ABD Backstage Magic 4/17 - 4/22/11

We get in Saturday evening and then meeting up with one of our co-workers that will be in the area for a convention and then relaxing. Since it will be an exciting and busy week, we will sleep in and take in some sights around the hotel and just relax.

We too are arriving on Sunday around noon. We will depart on Friday afternoon. So not much post activity time for us :sad2:

Bob and Nancy

We arrive at LAX about 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning and more than likely explore area around hotel

My uncle is picking us up sometime Friday/Friday evening and we are spending the weekend with him before flying home Easter Sunday afternoon

Is there any reason to bring our WDW Annual Passes?

Mark

We don't have APs this year - so N/A for us :)

But is there a way to upgrade a WDW AP to those super duper passes that get you into both DLR and WDW?

BTW --- For all intents and purposes: THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!

In other news....

The weather has been just awful here in Wisconsin. It's going to be in the 30s all week. :headache: But I thought you all would find it funny that this morning while watching the weather, Stephanie said "That's it, I think we should just pack our bags now and go to California." She has been telling us this week that she wonders why we still live in WI and that we should move to Cali....this trip isn't coming fast enough!

I am all packed and ready to go!!! However the weather looks like it might be a little colder than I was expecting, so I may have to switch out some of my lighter clothing for warmer clothing.

I thought I read somewhere that you get 5 fastpasses per person per day, so when you have your free time you can use them for the fastpass rides. Does anyone know if this is true? Since we will be there during Easter week, UGH! This will help alot.

Yeah, I purchased some capris and cardigans for the trip - seems the mornings may be cooler and the days warm, but not hot. Good, because that is better than this garbage we have here in WI! It SNOWED 2 days ago....ugh.

We're not packed yet --- but I have a few things set out.

Not sure about the FP rumor, although I, too, have heard the rumor.

Yeah, Not sure about the FP rumor, although I, too, have heard the rumor.

The last two trip we were on (including the 2/11 DIS trip), we received five Fast Passes per person to use during our free time after each day of park touring.

We did not receive any Fast Passes after the farewell breakfast on our last day, even though we asked very polietly.

The problem with Fast passes at Disneyland is that there are very few attractions that accept them. None of the Disneyland Fantasyland attractions accept FP. :confused3

Yes, you can upgrade your WDW pass to a Premier pass. Depending on how many days after the ABD trip you are staying and what you paid for your WDW pass it could possibly be worth it. Keep in mind that you also get 20% off merchandise and 15% off food at almost all locations. If anyone is planning another trip to DLR before your WDW pass expires it could also be worthwhile. Your Premier pass would expire the same date as your WDW pass.

I had a Premier pass before I renewed last month. I miss it! It is plastic like a credit card. Now I have the flimsy plastic Premium AP. :rotfl: I don't have any WDW trips planned in the near future so I didn't renew the Premier.

The trip is right around the corner!!!:cool1:

Whoohoo :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We are under 3 weeks before this fun starts!!!!
Can't wait to meet old friends and new friends!!!!

Is anyone packing yet? I have been mostly packed for 2 weeks now, but I'm not sure I want to pay for a checked bag for each myself and Shawn. Is everyone taking their backpack, carry-on and a checked bag? I am an overpacker!!

How about anyone who went before, did you do laundry or have enough clothes for the whole trip?

More than likely 1 checked bag each, one carryon and one ABD backpack. We do not plan on doing any laundry :cool1:

We'll do one checked bag each and one carryon each. We usually have a backpack for Steph's "entertainment" on the plane, Jeff's camera equipment and then the laptop bag.

We haven't started packing yet. We probably will a few days before. I'm so organized already with my toiletries, etc, that I just grab those makeup bags and throw them in at the last second :)

For me it is a backpack and a checked bag.

I didn't do laundry on the last trip, I brought enough clothes with me on the trip to not have to do laundry. One thing to note if anyone plans to do laundry...the Grand Californian has a laundry room, but the Renaissance Hollywood does not. To get laundry done at the Renaissance, you would need to use their laundry service which was very expensive.

For us it is the ADB backpack and a checked bag.

Have not thought much about clothes yet... except one pair of jeans, one pair pf slacks and shorts. Even if it's cold I'm in shorts:cool1:

Not sure about a pair of dress shoes to go with the dress slacks. Trying to figure out if it would look bad at Napa Rose with Tennis Shoes on:lmao:

See you all soon,

Mark

I can't believe our adventure begins in just over 2 weeks. Looking forward to meeting everyone :cool1:

I'm not packed yet but have a pile of toiletries and stuff I don't want to forget. I probably won't pack until the week before. I am definitely taking a checked bag, carry-on, and a backpack/hipster. That's how I always travel and I'm a real overpacker too! My motto is whatever fits in the suitcase, goes :lmao: I will likely have enough clothes to stay for a few weeks :goodvibes

The only thing I'm worried about is the weather. I'm hoping it's warm enough to wear capris, flip flops, and a light jacket if needed. I'm really hoping we won't need jeans the whole week. Plus they take up a lot more room in the suitcase! I'm really ready for some warmer weather :thumbsup2
