We had A LOT of help from our friend Amy, so can't take all the credit. There is NO way we could have done those dresses without her advice! But now we have much improved skills and the next projects will be so much easier!

Make believe. It’s something we all share in common from our youngest days of carefree play. Raise your hand if you played good guys/bad guys in some form. How about pretending you were a princess or a rock star, even playing doggie and kitty? We’re all born with the need to use our imaginations… and I’m not sure it EVER completely goes away. How else could the Disney parks be such a multi-billion dollar, unstoppable success?? Roy knew it, Walt knew it. They created a wonderful place where we can go and pretend until our hearts are content. Aren’t you “content” after a Disney trip? Don’t those trips always leave you wanting to go back again and pretend some more?? Let’s pretend we’ve fallen down a rabbit hole for a bit. Once again we transferred my aunt into the ride car, and down, down, down we went!

I love that Alice in Wonderland ride so much!! This ride alone might make a trip to Anaheim worth it in my opinion.

But as much as I love Alice in Wonderland, I think this may be my personal favorite in the entire park.

As a little girl I would imagine I was actually being swallowed by the giant whale and transported to a miniature world where all my favorite Disney characters actually live- kinda like Night at the Museum.

I was ever enthralled by the tiny little houses, incredible topiary and bonsai art; the daily care that must go into these gardens must be enormous! Sit back and enjoy … STORYBOOK LAND

(Obviously some additions have been done since I’d ridden this 20 years ago)

In order to appreciate this attraction with only pictures, you need to know that none of those castles or houses or other displays are over 2 feet tall. Really quite amazing the detailing when you think about it. Next up: The climax of the trip. Something truly you won’t want to miss!!!!

Haha, I'm not sure anyone's feet are perfect.... some have even been accused of being hairy! At least they had painted nails to detract from the bandages!

Thanks! Those dresses ought to last quite a while, so a repeat of making them won't be happening anytime soon.

Those projects took a lot of leading up to. We started with simple medieval gowns last year, then took on regency patterns, then tinkered with some other things including civil war era things. By the time we got to these, our most ambitious projects yet, it wasn't so hard. Although we NEVER could have done them without Amy's help!

We belong to a group that dances English Country (think Regency/Austen-style) every week. Every couple of months, they have a themed ball, and this last one was called the Victoria and Albert Ball. So 1860's period clothing was encouraged. Formal/ white tie required. We had a blast.

It took us all day to get ready and the hair took an hour each. We sure had fun up in Bek's bedroom getting all gussied up!! Now I understand why ladie's room were so elaborate in eras gone by!

Liesa, those are favourites of mine as well!! You would love DLP which has a Storybookland and something similar to Alice's ride: the Labyrinth! I just wish they had added something from Alice in Wonderland in the new Fantasyland at the MK!

Oh, Magdalene! I've been thinking about you so much lately!! One of these days, I"m going to ask someone to help be get Skype loaded properly onto my laptop so we can talk! And I really hope to be on here a whole lot more starting right after Christmas, but for now there's just so, so much going on!!

A friend of ours, Amy is moving in tonight, there's ongoing issues with Bek and David, but mainly their whackadoodle family, and of course school. But that will be MUCH less starting on Monday when I have my last final! (For this term)

Anyway... YES! I'm sure I would LOVE DLP!! Your pictures were fantastic from your recent trip, and I'd love to go there someday! The Labyrinth attraction does sound like a really cool concept! And, yeah, I too am sad that they didn't go with a few more vintage stories from years past in the the new FL!!

Wow, you sound very busy. The holidays have a way of doing that, don't they? Thanksgiving comes and then Christmas is just hot on it's heels! I can't believe tomorrow is December 1st.

I hope the, oh what was that succint word you used..."whackadoodle" family calms down. And I truly hope it isn't affecting your Bek and David.

I've really been enjoying these side DL updates! I went for the first time with my family last summer but we had one day only to spend at both DL and California Adventure. In retrospect, I wish we'd have chosen just DL since it was ridiculous how we tried to cram it all in. Having said all that, I really loved this update with Storybook Land! You're right, it is charming and full of imagination. What's that famous Disney quote? Something along the lines of why do we have to grow up, I think? So true. That's the allure of the Disney parks, a place where parents (or adults) can be that little child again along with their own children. One of our Disney trips, my inlaws and DH went back to the hotel to nap while I stayed at the Magic Kingdom with my three girls. We skipped and played and created a memories that will truly live in my heart forever. Priceless!

Anyhow, I loved all your pictures Liesa, thanks for sharing them. DL is definitely a place I'd love to revisit!

I did a quick look at your pictures this morning before I left for work! Wow - that story book land is very cool and so is the snow white ride. Your DL trip reporting really makes me want to visit there some day. I really hope I get a chance. There are so many wonderful details that I would love to check out!
