ABCs of Disney - Altered Rolodex Swap! ALL POSTAL 6/11! Enjoy!

I don't know if anyone remembers my post about my Sizzlits die that wasn't cutting, but things took a turn for the worst last night! :headache:

I've been cutting 2/day for a while so that I could get through all 26 without making myself crazy. I had to give all of the coral pieces an "assist" to get them to release...aka cut them out by hand. I was up to 4 pieces of cardstock for the shim and had to pull the lever down on the big Sizzix machine 3 times. It wasn't too bad...only about 6 spots weren't releasing, so I got brave & tried cutting a few extras. This is what happened after the last cut...and it was fine on the cut right before this one!!

I have no idea how it slid like that because I tried moving it back & it doesn't budge!! Does anyone have this die who might be willing to cut a few for me?!?!? I can't imagine having to cut the rest by hand!

Eek, Deb! I wish I had advice for you but I don't know how those work. Believe it or not, I've never used a Sizzix. Good luck, though!

I'm having a minor melt-down. I did the template for my card and I really like it. I put my little tab flag on the right side and it works really well for my design. Then I saw Momof2DisneyKids post about the tab being on the wrong side and realized I hadn't even checked that. Now I find out that my tab is supposed to be on the left which will look totally weird for my card!

I don't know what to do. I haven't made them all yet but they'll look goofy if I move the tab. Waaaaaahhhh!!!

I don't have any Undo and DH has the car. He was supposed to be off from work today as it's our anniversary, but they had an emergency. I tried to pry it off using a palette knife I have, but it doesn't work. The knife fits under the plate, but that sucker won't budge! :confused3 If he gets home early enough I might try to get some later today & try that.

I have 26 of those silly fish buttons with the shanks cut off & have no clue what to do with the rest if I don't use them for this ;) but if I had another idea for the letter "U" I'd just make something different for the rest. *sigh*

I'm just out of ideas at the moment - and I'm still stuck for something for one of my MK swap groups. I've been putting off thinking/stressing about it but I'm rapidly running out of time!

I think you need a warm & fuzzy scarp place! I know I do!!

If you are happy with the way it looks Joy.. LEAVE them AS IS!!! I'm sure they look great!

 piratesmate...
I haven't seen one do that before... I wouldn't even venture to guess how to fix that...but I sure would be giving an email to Sizzix and a copy of that picture and ask they if they would replace that defective die... I know it won't help now...but if you need that die in the future... ugh!

If I changed the rest of the cards to the Ugly Bug Ball (Gotta love that song! It was playing every time I called to make a PS for our last trip. ;)) how would I make the bugs ugly?? :confused3

Of course my cards are all cut & punched already...and they're a sea blue/green color...not exactly what I think of for a Ball. I have plenty of bug punches, but can't think how to put vests & spats on them. :lmao:

Maybe I should just go to ACM or JoAnn's (won't give Mikes the business until they lose Martha ;)) and buy some Ursula stickers. (Don't worry - I won't do that!)

I agree with Nancy! I would contact Sizzix. That's bizarre!

I also have to punch several times with my cardstock on most of my sizzix and sizzlets dies to get them to punch completely, but I use mostly Bazzill which is pretty thick.

Just an update.....I'll be working on these later this coming weekend and next week. Just too much to do all at once right now. They'll be there on time, though!

I only have a couple that don't want to work with a single pass - unless I'm doing multiple layers, which Sizzix says you can do. This one, though, didn't want to work right no matter what! :headache: I even tried using regular printer paper & had the same problems! At first I thought the edge on the plate just wasn't sharp enough or "long" enough to reach through the foam & paper. Now I'm wondering if it was ever set properly & that was the problem! :confused3

I'm still thinking about those bugs, though. I just liked the layered look of the die cuts on my original card. Now I'm thinking that the bugs from "It's Tough to be a Bug" - like Heimlich & Hopper - would be really cute! Unfortunately, I haven't seen any stamps for them so it would just be clipart or stickers. :(

It sounds like you have a defective die if it had trouble going through copy paper, etc. I think they should replace it.

Ooh..I like the "Tough to be a Bug" idea!

You're still further along than I am!

I still think "Under the Sea" is doable.

Instead of each card having all the diecuts, split them up and just draw on some seaweed with a green glitter/shiny gel pen. Nothing elaborate. Just two squiggly lines meeting in a point. Then put a piece of the diecut over those.

Do you have an Ariel stickers? If not, clip art printed on glossy with a pop dot would look nice too.

No Ariel stickers, but right after I posted this morning I spent some time looking for clipart of Ariel. (great minds & all that ;)) But my favorite position had some dumb frontal view fish in it...they looked really weird. So I opened the GIF in PhotoShop & got rid of them. But now when I print it I'm getting a grey background instead of the transparant one...that's the whole reason I looked for a GIF file! I was thinking of putting it on vellum because I don't like to bubble cut. I may just use glossy paper instead & cut around it if I can dins a similar pose as a BMP or JPG and do the bubble cut.

When is this due again? August?? :lmao: :lmao:

Have you tried using it even though its off center like that, just using more cardboard?

Yeah - and it doesn't work at all anymore. :( I got one more set after it went off center like that that I could eventually trim out. But after that...you can't even see the image on the reverse side of the paper!!

Where can I get a holder for these cards? I looked at office max, but they were expensive, and couldn't find anything at Target. I don't want a cover on it, just something to put the cards in so I can see them, without spending lots.

Walmart had them in their office supply section..
I also found mine at Office Depot for 7.00 or less... It's a smaller version..but it will fit my needs...
