ABC's "LOST" finally has a Gay Character !

Hi Everyone

I was watching my favorite television show last night: "LOST", and was surprised to see that during a flashback scene they showed the character of TOM FRIENDLY as being gay, or at least I thought it implied he was gay when he kissed another man goodbye several times and smiled a lot.

Finally one of these 50 or so people from the island is Gay, but sadly this character is now dead in the series, and only seen gay in past flashbacks in the storyline so far.

Early on in the series I thought they might be making the character of BEN gay (pun intended) , but eventually you find out he has a daughter and female love interests.

I'm addicted to this series, is anyone else ?

I love the show too!

Ben's daughter is "adopted" (well more like stolen!) though--she's Rosseau's biological daughter. But yeah it doesn't look like Ben is gay given the female love interests (well more like stalking victims!).

I remember hearing rumors quite awhile ago about there being a gay character. I always thought it was odd given that they have a very diverse group of characters in other ways that they did not have any diversity in terms of sexuality.

When we saw that scene GF and I were wondering who the other guy was. We assume it's not somebody Tom is really having a relationship with. After all, Tom probably doesn't get off the island very often. And Tom said something about liking to "indulge" when he can get off the island--I guess this guy was part of the indulgence .

Well, I can shoot down Ben being gay. Unfortunately or not, but he had (has) SUCH a crush on Juliet. It was replayed through many flashbacks, I've started to tune out during those, but they did say that. I was shocked with Tom being gay though, although, like you said he's dead now! LOL. What about the two women that lived in the underwater base for Darma? I think they were Lesbians, hell, they were trapped down there with no contact to the outside world, you do the math! LOL.

My partner and I both did double takes when Tom and his "friend" kissed each other goodbye (albeit on the cheek, but still...). Also, we thought the way Tom's arm lingered on the other guy's back when Michael first came into the hotel room, it was a clear sign that Tom and his friend were in some kind of intimate, more than just friends, relationship. Tom was the last character I would have guessed to be on our team, but still, it's nice to have the diversity amongst us!

That scene was quite a shocker to us. I never expected Tom to be a Friend of Dororthy.

I was SO happy to finally to see a gay character! It's so hard to find gay characters during primetime!
