Abbreviations

Can someone quickly explain the family abbreviations? DH, DS, DD, whatever, what do they all mean? I know they're family, but I don't quite understand. If DH is husband,what's the D for? I know I'm kinda dumb but I wanna know

Okay, so there's no "official" meaning of the D, right? It just makes it look better because just typing H and S and stuff would be confusing?

I've always thought of the 'D' as Disney. Like kdm said, there's no "official" meaning.

I dont use them. I think they are all stepford-wifey! But I guess I'm a rebel.

Usually 'dear' - it's internet wide lingo (not specific to the Disboards). You can insert your own D word if you'd like

Yeah, they're pretty much an internet standard. Dear/Darling Husband, Wife, Daughter, Son, etc. Or, like others have said, Dumb/Darn when the case warrants it

You can usually tell the people who only frequent this message board and not others. They'll be the ones saying "OMG, I went to another board and called my husband DH. What a nerd they're going to think I am!" because around here, DH is often thought to be Disney Husband.

I've always considered the "D" as standing for Disney.

That's what I thought, but I've seen it on non-Disney boards, so I got confused.

It would be confusing if you just typed "H" or "S" or whatever. So the D makes sense.
