I'm so upset!!!! I got a new scale!!! It registers 10 pounds heavier!!!!! I can't believe it!! I was so excited to be "a certain weight"!!
I guess its relative...should I add the 10# to my starting weight, because that older scale was where it came from? I still feel I did lose the 22 pounds-HELP!!!!!!

I went through this not long ago when I bought a new scale. I was 8lbs heavier on the new scale. I am going more for a size and a feeling than a number. You have definately lost the 22lbs. Your old scale still measured how much you were losing.

Yep ... add 10 pounds to your starting weight. Regardless of what the scale says now, versus your old one, you are still down X number of pounds, and that's awesome! I know too that it's all relative, and it's just numbers, but it's still a little disheartening. Because my new one showed me 3# heavier, it actually took me a while to "like" my new scale ;)

I wonder if the calibration could be off on the new scale? Is there any place that you could get an accurate weight and then check that against your scales at home? Maybe your doctor's office or the Y or something?

Regardless of which scale is right, you have definitely lost 22 pounds and that is something to be proud of! You had a starting point on your old scales and they are now showing you 22 pounds lighter, so there is no question about it at all.

Most definitely!!!
When I got my Tanita scale (which I love now because it doesn't vary on the weight no matter how many times I step off and on LOL) it weighed me heavier. I just changed my starting weight because by gosh I DID lose those lbs... regardless of the difference in what one scale weighed me to what the new one did! So yes, just change your starting weight... you still lost those lbs!!!!

(also test your new scale with something you know the weight of- like 10lb bag of something/etc)

Thanks for all the info...and the SUPPORT...as usual!!! I am changing everything!!! Still quite an adjustment psychologically...

Thanks you guys!!!!
