Aaghh!! My Brother booked the wrong room type at CBR!!

We are leaving 2 weeks from Saturday, and I thought I'd call just to see if we could apply the room only discount code to our CBR PREFERRED Location ressie for 2 rooms, instead of the AAA code (only a slight difference in price.) I knew we were in trouble when I saw the room type listed as water view. We booked this in FEBRUARY, so we could be assured that we'd get what we wanted. My brother had called back 4 times to confirm our request for Trinidad North, BLDG 31, etc. etc. and they kept saying yes, it's in there. Of course, no CM bothered to notice that the room type said WATER and not PREFERRED. Duh, you are not going to get Trinidad North Bldg 31 unless you booked a PREFERRED room, which is what we thought we had. Needless to say there is nothing they can do, as Nov 5-13 is pretty much booked. We couldn't even reduce it to a standard view, so now we are paying the same price as preferred but getting basically nothing (a water view could mean an oblique view of a puddle!) I'm so frustrated!! I leave one piece of planning up to somebody else and it gets screwed up. Whew, okay that's out now.

Now, can anyone tell me the best area to request, in light of the fact that we have a water view instead of preferred, to be close to the main pool? I've stayed in Aruba before and I thought that was pretty good but that was 10 years ago. Any special buildings etc?

Jamaica would be your best bet. I booked water view before (AAA) for 1 night and then Trinidad 31 for 8 nights (AP rate) When I got to CH I asked to stay in Trinidad N 31 for the entire time and since it was the same price we were able to. Your going Jersey week so I'm not sure if you are able to but give it a try anyway when you get there.

This might not have been your brother's fault.

I recently booked a trip myself via WDTC but later called to make some changes. I couldn't believe how messed up it had gotten in the system!! They had just three of us listed instead of four (our family size), and the days in their system were different than the confirmation they'd sent me (which was correct). I always confirm everything before I hang up the phone when I make reservation so I know it somehow happened afterward.

Apparently they knew there was a problem too because every time I called they had me hold so they could "consult Guest Services". Hopefully it's correct when I get there but at least I have the correct confirmation in my hand.

Water and preferred cost the same so you may still end up in Trinidad North. If you don't get a preferred location then I would suggest Aruba or Jamaica.

Just make sure your reservations have Trinidad North noted.

Thanks, they do. (Or so they tell us.) I just figured since they are sold out of preferred location that we most likely would not get it.

Now that I think about it, I think I remember when he booked it, they asked do you want a view of the pool, and we said sure why not. I bet that totally messed it up!

I'm sure you already know this, but building choices are not guaranteed when you request them, but they will do there best to accomidate you. This is what I was told when I made my reservations at the end of last year for Feb 05 and when I checked in. Sure curtain buildings are set aside for waterview and preferred, but you may not get the exact building you requested.

I would just explain the situation when you check in to the CM and ask if there's anything they can do.

I've always found the front desk cm's at CBR to be really nice and willing to help you find the room you want. Both times I've stayed there, they just pulled out the binder w/a map of the rooms and let me point out which areas I would prefer.
