i NEED to find a job (i left my old one prematurely optomistic:confused3 ) to support the disney addiction that i WANT to feed, but i can't find a job because everytime i come online to search all i want to do is DIS!!!:worship:

i have a trip planned for dec 2007 (bought and paid for before i left the crappy job:stir: so i can still go, but im sick of listening to DH talk about me getting a job everytime i get something for our trip (all the good winter-y clothes are on SALE now for next year so i dont really have a choice do i???)
or talk about something i want to do on the trip.....

AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

thanks for letting me get that out

I thought of that, i was talking to one of the cm's there last nite. he said the perks are great but he makes no money. i unfortunatly need the money....perks are nice, but i dont think i can pay my mortgage with them.

I feel for you - I thought about selling our house before it's fully renovated so we could go earlier/stay longer/stay at a deluxe resort.

DF would not appreciate this.

You didn't say what you did...is freelance a possibilty? Job sharing?

ive been in the mortgage biz for a few years now. i left to try to go back to school for nursing but with 2 kids, its hard. i dont know how others can do it! while i was doing that (last year) i was waitressing. but when i left i went back to mortgages, i HATE it, i HATE sitting at a desk all day. i could have possibley just dealt with it (after all most of america hates what they do, why should i be any different) but the whole enviroment sucked. so i left, thinking i could find something i liked LOL, im applying to mortgage co's again. so we will see. nope no job sharing, free lance for me.

its funny, i didnt mind waitressing, it was flexible, i made good money and i took **3** vacations last year (only 1 WDW tho) i wont be able to do that anywhere else, but all i hear is, "oh your STILL only waitressing" so i feel like i should be doing something better.

wow this vent got into it huh? i guess i needed to get out more than i thought i did! LOL

thanks!

You've hit a major pet peeve of mine - those of us who serve also serve.

I work in retail & get condescending attitudes from people who have NO idea what's actually involved with the job.

There is NOTHING wrong with enjoy waiting tables, especially for the reasons you said (flexible hours, tips, etc).

I like people (most of the time), I like to talk, therefore, I have chosen the right profession.

Don't let yourself get sucked into another desk job just to pay the bills. It may not sound "respectable" to serve the public, but someone's gotta do it!

Besides, I love the looks on my cousins' faces when they complain about how hard they have to work to keep their weight off & glare at me because I don't exercise & eat what I want! There are more advantages to being on your feet all day than one would think at first glance!

....if you enjoyed being a server, then do it! It is good money and it's exercise
and you're always moving and talking to folks and it's a HARD AS HELL job.
As much as the public eats out, it's a very necessary occupation. Don't you
care what everyone "says". This is about YOU. Be happy, make your $$$
the way you want to and go to Disney. Okay? :grouphug:

hmmmm...i dont know. i guess its a possibility if i could find the right restraunt. i dont really want to go back to where i was. im almost 30:scared: and i dont have any type of 401K or retirement fund built up. and the insurance offered stinks.

i feel the same way, i love being on my feet and moving fast. i get bored in one place for to long. and i love talking to/meeting new people. thats why i thought i would be good at nursing, i like telling people whats wrong with them and how to fix it too! LOL

im trying to find a good combo of cust. service/desk job. but the so little vaca time is what kills me. i WANT to go to disney 3 times a year!!! LOL what kind of office place is gonna let me do that???
