We're going to Orlando 10/21 and will be staying off-site until 10/23 to do Sea World and other stuff. Anyway, I've been here and studying where to stay off-site; debated using PL and HW, the decided to go with Expedia and the Palms by Lexington, which was offered at 47/night (plus $8.00 resort fee).

I figured that I had some time to "pull the trigger" on that, since October is not normally a HIGH attendance time. I was wrong. I went to book it last night and the rate has gone to $65 a night (with the $8.00 resort fee). It looks as if all of the hotels I was looking at have gone up. What's the deal?

So now, do I wait and see or go back to checking PL and HW? Any advice? We aren't looking for luxury...just a good CLEAN hotel, near MK, on the cheap.

Actually with Food & wine at Epcot, MNSSHP and US HHN, it's a very popular time to go. I go that week every year and it's hard to get a room. So, I would book quickly!! I did get a room at POP for an AP rate after satying at the BWV's maybe you can try there.

I agree. We have gone for years in October staying in timeshares. There has been a noticeable reduction in availability for October over the years, particularly for the Columbus Day week.

October was once wide open like September still is, but not anymore.

We went in October 2003 and it was FABULOUS. We arrived the weekend AFTER Columbus day and stayed the week and there were NO crowds! I was sort of counting on it to be about the same.

The hotelkingdom site had the hotel I wanted for about 53/night...I will probably book through them. I imagine if you recommended it, it is reputable?
I hadn't heard of it anywhere else.

Thanks,

Tracie

I've used hotelkingdom.com before, & never had a problem. I haven't used them for an Orlando stay, but the results would be the same. My only complaint is that there inventory is much more limited than it used to be. If they've got what you want, I wouldn't hesitate to book with them. :)

I have also used Hotel Kingdom without any problems. I always check the hotel web site directly to see if I'm saving anything first.

hotelkingdom.com is a great company to use. I had a great experince with them.

October is becoming increasingly popular. I think that there are so many events offered in this timeframe it's drawing in higher crowds. I have to second the advice to use hotelkingdom-- usually they have some really great deals.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I went back to HK and the place was gone so either I had HK confused with someplace else, or it dropped off altogether.

I ended up booking directly at a different hotel (Comfort Inn LBV) using the Orlando MagicCard. Got a great rate, and since I booked directly I feel much "safer". And the MagicCard rate was better than any other 2nd party sites I checked.

So - I'm booked and ready!

The Comfort Inn LBV gets really great reviews on the reviews board here. Most people find it to be comfortable and a great rate. I'd check them out when you get a chance (they can be found at the top of this forum). I think you'll have a great time.
