AAACCCKKKKK! My phone keeps ringing...and no one's there!

About an hour ago my phone rang, answered it and it was dead. Hung it up and it rang again, same thing. Hung it up AGAIN, same thing! I can't disconnect it as the phone co. needs to test it....problem in our area I have turned the ringers dowm, and turned off my answering machine...it is driving me crazy! I can't call out and no one can call in...thankfully I have a cell, and the school can reach me on that if needed! What a bizzarre service problem....constant ringing!

2 months ago that happened to us. Called them and they said it was a major cable problem. When you taked with the techs in the field there was no problem. Still my calling unlisted numbers with caller id doesn't work. Idiots!!! Hang in there the phone will work on and off though.

Service is provided by SBC....also known here as Some Bull**** Co., .....oh well, at least if something had to go wrong today, this is irritating, but can be dealt with.

It could be a fax machine is trying to send a fax but has the wrong number. They keep auto-dialing.

It's happened to me before. It is real annoying!!

Well, some construction has been going on here(new walgreens) and a worker hit a 2ft cable and knocked out service for 50 homes...we're in the lucky 50. SBC says it will take 4 days to repair. Guess who's going to go over on her cell minutes this month? I used a ton just trying to contact the phone company about the problem!
