Aaa ?

Here's the plan: We are meeting my sister at WDW, staying together at CBR then moving to different resorts later in the week. I am hoping for AP rates for our stay (I have an AP she doesn't) but if they don't have any for our time frame my sis has AAA. Can you apply AAA at a later date? how many rooms can be booked with AAA?

I think the AAA card holder can book up to 3 rooms, but am not 100% sure. Since AAA rates can sometimes be the only room-only discount rate available during certain periods, I would book them now. There are a finite amount of AAA room-only rates for any given resort at any given time, and once they are gone they are gone. If you try to get an AAA rate later, you may find that they are sold out and rack rate is all that's left.

Pretty good piece of mind, IMO, for the cost you 1 nights deposit, which can be applied to another rate or cancelled without penalty up to 5 days prior to your arrival. YMMV.

I would book the rooms now and get the AAA rate, you can always apply the AP rate when/if it comes out. Why wait and take a chance that all the AAA rooms might be taken?
I'm not sure how many rooms you can book and get AAA, I'd call AAA and find out.

If you get AAA yourself, you would be able to make the ressie. Furthermore, there is a nice AAA member lounge where you can cool off in MK, lots of other AAA discounts to take advatage of for Disney and non-Disney travel (non-Disney? nah ).

Then there are the other benefits, like Roadside Assistance and Towing provides cheap "insurance" should you have a roadside emergency. I think we pay maybe $75 a year for two members with the AAA "plus" membership here in Massachusetts (entry level membership is $45 in Mass); compare that to the cost of towing or roadside repair and AAA membership comes out looking pretty good. In our comparison, one tow every three years and AAA plus has paid for itself.

Do the math for your family. I expect you'll find joining AAA will be well worth it. And then you'll be eligible for those AAA discounts to boot.

I'm sure someone will jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can only use the AAA lounge if you made your reservations through AAA. I have AAA membership but made my reservations (with AAA discount) directly with Disney. So, I won't have access to the lounge. Correct?

Ok, just to clarify.....I have an AP...sis has AAA..I'm not getting AAA and she isn't getting an AP. We should book both rooms under both our names now under AAA and then switch it to AP rates should the discounts appear??

This is what I normally do - AP rate is usually MUCH better than the AAA rate. Whether using AAA or AP rates, the card/pass holder can book up to 3 rooms with the discount. So I would definately advise getting the rooms with your sister's AAA rate now and if the AP rates become available, you can make the swap then.

For the time you are both at the same resort, your sister should reserve two rooms with the AAA rate. Then you should book two AP rate rooms if/when they are released for the dates of your trip. After you have your two AP rate rooms confirmed, your sister should cancel the AAA rate rooms.

For the time you are staying at different resorts, you'll each be on your own for whatever discounts you can find.

For example, we were unable to book a second room at AP rates for my BIL/SIL when they insisted on staying at a different resort from ours. I'm told AAA works the same way.
