Has anyone tried the free AAA designated parking area for the parks? We're going in Nov and are wondering if it's worth it? Thanks!

It is not free. If you are not a resort guest or an AP holder you still pay the Disney parking fee
As to 'worth'. AAA gives them away if you qualify. They are not worth buying

The AAA parking area is up front directly next to the handicapped parking. You get a card for your dash if you purchased a package through AAA. Your name & the dates of your trip are typed on it.

We booked thru AAA and we're staying at POR (so it's free and we qualified) but I'm not sure if it will save time (ie as opposed to taking the buses). The buses aren't too bad in Nov so I'm trying to determine the value added. Has anyone tried it? Have any good stories to share? Any bad stories to share? Thanks!

I have been in a car that has used it in it the past. For all parks. But, I have to say that I doubt I would ever drive to MK vs taking the bus. Other than that, it's okay. Sure you get up a bit closer, but not so much that I would go out of my way to get the parking pass.
Parking at MK means having to get out of the lot, and over to either the monorail or ferry. Yes, you are getting closer parking with the AAA perk.....you can walk to the main area vs having to take the tram. But you still have to actually get to the MK...which means either the ferry or monorail..which also means more waiting.

I wouldn't go to WDW without one. I consider it an essential perk.

And thank-you for carting my sorry behind around WDW....thanks to that trip I am now able to speak more knowledgeably about the AAA parking pass!!!!

We use it every trip and love it. It does let you park closer to the main entrance of each park, but there is still some walking. Keep in mind that from what we have seen.......the trams do not service the AAA diamond lots. So you will likely have a shorter walk IF you use a tram. If you are not the type of person that likes waiting for a crowded tram (like us), than the AAA parking area is great. We would prefer to walk a little to our car, than use a tram. The AAA lot is usually near the handicaped parking area. Just follow the green line...........usually.
We just decided to rent a car for our upcoming trip (leaving in about 1/2 hour), and didnt get a AAA pass for this trip. Just went done to my local AAA office, purchased our 7 day Park Hopper tickets, saving about $60, AND now have the AAA diamond parking pass in hand. The AAA agent said that you can now get the AAA parking pass if you purchase a 4-5 day hopper pass. It used to be for packages only.
Get one ! You will love it if you drive to the parks.

That was a fun day! My youngest used to tell people her favorite ride at WDW was riding around in the car because (and I quote) "mom drives like Indiana Jones!" - based on her experience on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland (which they don't have at WDW, but if you've been on the Dino Institute ride at AK, you've been on Inidana Jones!)

we used it last year at epcot and got an excellent spot! also used it at hs but wasn't as impressed there.
