AAA Website and Room Only Reservation?

Has anyone ever booked a room only reservation on the AAA website? I have always booked directly with Disney. We are looking into booking a long weekend trip in the fall, we want to stay at the Contemporary, the Disney website shows no availability but I just looked at the AAA website and they show availability. If I booked through the AAA website and a code comes out can it be applied? I know calling CRO is the best but I can't until I get home.

Any opinions with booking through AAA website?

If you do it that way, AAA will hold the res. which means that if a code appears, you would either have to have AAA apply it and convert it to a package, or you would have to get a new one directly and cancel your existing one.

Note that until you submit payment info the availability is not guaranteed. I've had that happened once in a property where as once I submitted payment info, it came back with a no avail. I was not charged for it, as IIRC it still requires another submit to approve the res.

I'd rather call the 800 AAA number and have a TA check for you. It might be easier to deal with someone once a code comes out.

Why dont you try calling disney directly before you book through AAA

Today I tried to do a room only reservation with WDW directly under AAA rates and they said there was no availability (only rack rate). However, it was showing available online and with the AAA TA as well.

Of course the CM might have not known exactly how to do it, as she was actually trying also to set up a AAA package and of course she couldn't

MY understanding is every avenue is has different availability/inventory.
A set number of rooms is set aside for call in to Disney, some for on line bookings, some for AAA, some for businesses such as Travelocity, etc.
If one inventory is fulfilled that does not mean another is also.
That is why sometimes you can call in and they show no availability, but maybe AAA or Travelocity does.
