Were there AAA rooms available? Also the special code that came out a month or so ago. with free park hoppers(from WDW) was about the same $ amount as AAA

What code is that? They didn't say about the room availability..

Disney price for 2 adults in May - POFQ 8 day park hopper with water parks & dining was $2470. The AAA price for the same thing was $2270. I'll take that $200 savings. I called about the free hopping & water parks discount, but it still came out cheaper with the AAA discount ( can't get both discounts!!;) ). When returning my call, my agent said they were adding a $25 gift card to our package as part of their January promotion I think. Pretty good for not asking or knowing anything about it!! AAA has always saved us money, but sometimes I think it really just depends on what time of year your going.

Pop Century, standard
March 1-6, 2007
2 adults
1-day base tickets (we have AP's)
w/DDP

Disney quote: $1207.32 AAA quote: $1106.42

Slightly :offtopic:
FYI
I actually invested the time to go through the menus and guess-timate OOP meal costs (I did not choose most expensive options, I chose what we are likely to order...but I did include apps & desserts which aren't usually a choice for us) with the AP room-only discount. The bottomline figures were only about $86 difference, (OOP meals w/ AP room was less). However, when we considered that we will also have approximately $130 credit toward our next AP purchase, (the base tickets we get with the package), we felt the package was definitely the way to go.

I definitely think this new code will work best for those with children or at least with a larger party. Like I said, the discount is $101 per person, so for us it was $505. Our AAA discount was $306 for our package.

Breakdown -

DH, me, DD13 (considered an adult for ticketing and DDP), DS8, DS4

10 nights POR standard view
10 day park hoppers & water parks
DDP
AAA price - $4517.31
Price with code - $4318.79
Rack $4823.79

I dont think the discount works out to 101 per person exactly.

ASMu April 15-20, 2a, 2c (under 10), 6 day tickets w/hop&wp = 1720.66

Disneyworld.com link directly to using this code for the exact same Package 1371.28

Difference = 349.38
87.34/person

I actually show this comming up rack rate at 4747.02 (Disneyworld.com) Don't know where the difference comes from but I cant seem to make it come up with your rack number. And Since I came up with Code rate exactly what you say 4318.79, I know I'm using the right specifics and I did check it again and again.

Difference 428.23
85/person

Is the Swan/Doplphin a typo. You have the discount at 35% off. That is really good. Would that be off of room only too. Or would I have to buy a package?

I booked AAA for the Poly for Sept 30 at $314 per night, tax included. I think that's about 15% off rack rates.

swan/dolphin aren't Disney owned and therefore you cant get the packages Disney Offers like MYW + Dining. I would think like most of the time when you hear a % discount this is referring to a room only reservation.

I have been considering getting a AAA membership just for the discount on a package with DDP. I want to book a value resort during value season for 6 days with a one day pass per person for 2 adults and 2 kids (under 9) and include the DDP. My question is how do they do the discount? Is it just off the rack room rates or is it off the package? I tried to look it up online but you only see packages with several days tickets. I hate to call not being a member yet. Does anyone know how the discount is done???

I have been considering getting a AAA membership just for the discount on a package with DDP.

Now may be the time to book with AAA. My membership expired. They sent me a letter saying that January is AAA month with Disney. The promo is that you get a free year of the basic membership with every Disney booking through AAA.

I have a call into AAA agent in my area, told her what I was interested in. My question is - if you book a AAA package to Disney ( moderate resort for 7 nights, dining plan etc) can you also get the free upgrade - hopper and water park upgrade applied to your initial package offer? or is this considered a double discount and you lose your AAA package discount? am i making sense....anyway...was wondering if someone could answer quick..

Thanks becky

I'm new to using AAA discounts for Disney vacations, so I'm looking for a little help here....

I called CRO and made a reservation (room + 4-day ticket for my 3 yo - DH & I have leftover days from last year) at the Poly with a AAA discount. OK. Good. Now, my question is, would this be the same rate that I would get if I called AAA and made the exact same reservation? Are they ever different (AAA rate booked through AAA vs. AAA rate booked through CRO)?

Also, I've read a couple of times lately where someone calls CRO and gets a AAA rate quote, then calls back a few days later (or whatever) and gets a cheaper quote. Why? How? A code that's out of the blue attached to their name in the CRO system??? And if that's the case, what does one do....call back periodically to see if the rate they have is the best available? Or if one of these magical rates pops up?

How do you experts do it???? :listen:

Discount is off just your room 20% off values in value season. So your savings for 6 nights in 2007 value season in a value hotel would be 82*.2=16.40*6nights = 98.40 + tax = about 110.21.

You can not have the aaa discounted room/package and add upgrades to that however you can change your reservation (assuming availability) forgoing your aaa discount for the upgrades. the following assumes your aaa package included the hopping and waterparks in a standard room...

AAA savings for your room in regular season = about 194.
So with 2 people where the upgrades cost about 100 each, you lose your 194 savings from aaa but gain a 200 savings from the free upgrades. So that's pretty much break even. BUt if you have any more than 2 in your party you will save more with the free upgrades than with aaa but as I said that's only if you were already paying for the hoppers and water parks.

aaa discount is a straight up percent off the rack rate of the room and is the same no matter who you call about it. aaa discounted packages must be booked with aaa only. The reasons for differences.....maybe they came with new dates that are only a day or 2 different but made the seasons change since your whole stay is based on rate of night one, maybe aaa wasn't available when they called the first time but someone cancelled another reservation so there is now a spot available for an aaa reservation, maybe the second call now has a new code which while you then lose your aaa rate ends up a better deal.

Interesting, everyone else has just been saying the promo was $25 disney dollars. Great for you, where do you live? maybe I should call my agent....that'd be another 100 savings.

Well AAA just told me that they couldn't give me a rate without being a current member. I told them about the program of getting a free year with every disney package and they sent me to their joining up place (whatever they call it). Of course he has no idea what I am talking about either.

Our AAA membership expired 11/06. I am really still hoping for free dining to come out so I hate to get AAA for the discount and then not be able to use the discount since free dining will be a better deal.

Who is everyone else calling to find a quote without already being members??? FTR, I want dates of 9/26 to 10/2 in Pop Century with DDP for 2 adults 2 kids (age 4 and 6) and 1 day pass for each. These dates are in value season. I can't believe they won't give me a quote. I told them it would convince DH to get AAA (which actually it would convince me, LOL) if the quote was saving us money.

as stated before the discount would be about 110ish (check earlier post for explanation). So to figure the actual package price you go to disneyworld.com punch in the info, take that price, and deduct the discount from the total it gives you. The discount is a percent off the room part of your package (limited rooms no guarnteed availablity).

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.
During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.
During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.
The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.
Your package is nothing but the rack rate (-aaa discount) of your room, full price tickets, and dining. There is no discount per-se just because you book it as a package. The only place that can book aaa packages is at aaa so they are the only ones you can get an official quote from. You could try going online aaa.com and getting a quote that way if you want an official one they wont make you provide your aaa number but it will take a few days. or call other aaa offices you do not have to use your local one. people in texas can use the new jersey office.

according to disneyworld.com Sept 26 for 6 nights 2 adults 2 kids 1 day base tickets + dining in pop century standard room is 1422.32, subtract the 110 and you get 1312.

Thank you so much beth_cam that is exactly what I needed to know. Sorry I didn't see your post before I posted the dates again. For me, I think we are going to wait (and hold our breath) for that free dining (fingers crossed). For us, since we have to buy a AAA membership we would only save about $50 (which is better then nothing - just not the $600 we would save if the free dining comes around again).

Thanks again for the explaination and doing the math for me :goodvibes
