AAA service fee?

I decided to use a AAA agent for my first night since it was not covered by my pin...any discount is good right? Now I got my itinerary in the mail and there is a $15 service fee. I am a AAA member and told the agent that when I booked. I booked through the same office last year and wasn't charged a fee. Overall with the service fee it saves me only $30...not sure its worth it.

Has anyone been charged a service fee through AAA?:confused3

I do have a call out to the agent, but only am getting a voice mail:sad2:

Never been charged a fee before, but haven't used them in 2 years for a trip either.

Thanks...that's what I thought. Maybe something changed since last year...I'll give her a bit more time to call back and then I'll be a pest. She spelled our last name wrong too:scared1: which is probably a bigger problem!

Well, I guess it's buyer beware!:headache: According to this agent, they have been "cracking down" on charging a fee. She claims she quoted it in the verbal quote, which I never heard. Yet another reason make your own reservations!

Can you call another office and confirm this? I have never heard of this, so not what she is cracking down on, since it's never been done before.

Just checked our reservation booked by AAA late last month and there was no fee charged. We always book through them and have never been charged.

Just called 2 other branches...they both stated that since they are now overseen by AAA in Michigan, the $15 fee is in place. Stinks cuz doesn't Disney pay them a commission too?:rolleyes1 Guess it's just another added expense to be living in WI:headache:

Call Disney directly & book your room only with the AAA discount! You can do this! Maybe then you won't be charged this "fee".

We got charged that fee last year when we booked so our recent trip in January and our upcoming one in September I booked through Disney directly.

That would work, but I needed the tickets the first day there and so booked a one night package with tickets and QSDP(we'll have a mug too)...even so, if I try to cancel now, I'll probably get dinged with another service fee:sad2:

Oh, I got it. I thought you were just getting a room only deal. Are you doing a package on your PIN as well?

After talking it over with my husband...I'm thinking of cancelling my AAA reservation. I don't feel the fee was communicated with me and it almost seems like they're getting a commission from me and Disney. I know I'd save $30 or so with AAA but it's the idea that their customer service stinks! They said the reason I am being charged the service fee is because I booked a package:confused3 I'm spending more $$ on a package and they charge a service fee:sad2: makes no sense.

So should I cancel and pay $30 more or bite my tongue and stay with my AAA reservation?:headache: (Is there a fee to cancel a package???)

Not sure about a AAA fee, but if you are booking outside the 45 day window you should get a full refund (and based on your ticker, I believe you are).

Are there not any GP offers for the date you are looking at for the 1 night? I assume not if you PIN isn't covered for the day (is it the time around Easter week?).

Turn around and call Disney and see if you can get something for a discount for that one day, or possibly just do the room only AAA. Also, check into doing the GAD program and use that ticket for your 1 day entry, and pay OOP for meals the first day. THEN, convert the tickets for the second half of your trip to have the longer tickets.

Thanks Marcielm...maybe I'm just upset about the miscommunication...All of your suggestions are good. We did the GAD :goodvibes and were planning on using it to park hop on one of our days, but your option would work too.

Maybe I'll call Disney and see what they have...April 10th is the Sat after Easter so it's blacked out on the pin...It's a surprise upgrade to CR--we've never stayed in a deluxe before--so looking forward to staying there..:)

I just need to change my :upsidedow into a :yay::sunny:!!!

Our AAA place is trying to charge me a per person fee to book a vacation package. I just got a quote. Why are they charging a per person fee if they get a commission from Disney?

I called Disney directly and was told that if I book with Disney using AAA discount there is no way I can get dining at all. I'll have to pay out of pocket for dining as I go. It's either just the room or the room and tickets. If I want dining, I have to call AAA. Goodness, it took AAA over a week to even give me a quote... with the added fees, of course.

Is this correct?

Why can't I get the dining plan directly with Disney if I use a AAA discount on the room?

Oh, and I was told today by a very friendly CM that there are absolutely no codes for any time after June. It just doesn't happen. Discounts for November won't come out until at least September. So, I guess all of you who got pin codes to the end of the year are imagining it. :confused3 I just politely thanked her for her time and hung up.

:lmao: That CM is a quack. Mousesavers.com has the historical discounts back to 2006 and when they were offered. There aren't any GP discounts right now, but there are PINs out there.

I wouldn't book with AAA if they are charging you an additional fee. That is just wrong. If you'd like to use a TA, find a Disney Specialist TA and book with them. They will also watch for the June specials, and call and have them applied to your ressie, so you don't have to worry about it.

Thanks Marcielm...maybe I'm just upset about the miscommunication..

I'd be upset, too! The more I hear about folks and their troubles with AAA, them more frustrated I get with them.

Oh, and that is INSANE that AAA took that long to get you a quote. Most TAgencies have a 24 hour response period.

As for the dining plan deal, it is correct. Another TA can get you the AAA discount, but it will be room only. Then you can purchase tickets seperately, and of course pay out of pocket for food. From the discounts I've seen AAA offer, it doesn't seem that they are that great of deals, so it doesn't seem to be worth it, IMO. The only time AAA seems to be good, is when you can get their rate over other blackout dates, like OP is looking to do.
