Does all AAA Travel Agents charge a service fee? If so, what is the normal rate? I have decided to change a room only reservation to a package. So, I can add the dining plan. Also, can you recommend a good AAA Travel Agent? BTW - What's the charge per day for the Dining Plan? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Thanks,

Different agents and agencies have different policies regarding service charges. Why not call your local AAA office and ask them?

$37.99 per adult (ages 10 and up), $10.99 per child (3 - 9) per night.

I booked my package through aaa. The service charge that I was charge was $30.

I am surprised that AAA would charge a fee for booking Disney? They get a commission to start with.

Ask about any extra fees or about any extra cancellation or change fees before you book. AAA in NY had the exact same terms as booking directly with Disney; no extra fees.

You don't have to book through your local AAA, if you don't like the terms do a search. There are a couple of AAA agents that some Disboard members have had good luck with.

Yep. Different rates for different AAA offices.
Ours charges $10 per person to book, gives almost no discount and requires 1/2 of the total package cost up front at booking.
The one person at our AAA office who gives quotes is nasty. She's rude and doesn't want to give quotes without a face to face meeting. Even if you stop in she wants to schedule an appointment in order to get a quote.

I don't know the specific arrangements between Disney and AAA, and between AAA and its affiliates and agents, but commissions, in general, have been cut in the travel industry, over the past five years or more, so much so that many agents are now surcharging to ensure that their efforts remain profitable ones.

Well, we are talking Disney here - I work for a travel agency that does Disney bookings, and Disney does pay a decent commission (and they do pay a commission on at least some air components if booked through them). I can't imagine a reason why AAA would charge on top of what they already get from Disney or anyone else who pays them a good commission. I understand that they are (and should) charge for work that they don't get any commission on.

Thanks..I called around to a couple travel agents and found a really nice lady in Texas. This office does not charge any service fees for Disney. We called Disney together to get the quote and that is what I am paying. So far she is really good to work with. I went to the Disney website and did the exact package. The savings is $176 plus the extras you get with AAA (character story telling, AAA Diamond Discount Card etc.). There is no penalty for changes or cancellations up to 45 days prior to departure. After that it's a $100 for cancellation. If there are any discounts they can be applied with no fees.

Thanks, for all the replies...
