AAA rates vs. AP rates

I currently have a Poly stay booked for 11/22 - 11/28 with a room only AAA rate (CM told me there was an AAA discount applied to all days, but I'm not so sure for the latter days right at Thanksgiving).

Is it safe to assume that at some point a better AP rate will be available for that time period? If so, and if I have an annual pass, would I be able to apply the better rate to the existing ressie?

We normally purchase 10 day nonexpiring park tickets and carry over to unused days to the next year. I've just found out that I will be we'll be in Orlando for a conference this summer, so I'm trying to figure out if an annual pass is worth consideration instead for this year. The price of an AP & a 10 nonexpiring park hopper are about the same.

Thanks!

If you would have asked me that question a year ago, I would have said AP rate would be better than the AAA rate. Now, however that is not the case. We stayed at WL concierge in Jan '08 for our honeymoon. When AP rates came out I called to see if the discount could be applied to our room. I was told, yes the AP rate could be applied but the AAA rate saved us more $$$. The CM seemed surprised that this was the case. The AP for deluxe rooms was a straight $50 so with lower priced rooms the AP discount may have been better but in our case the 15% discount saved us more money. Since the Poly is a high priced resort, if they go with a flat discount of $50 again, you will make out better wiht AAA. I think it is the throw of the dice. Who knows what they are going to do. You may or may not save more with AP rates in Nov. I am waiting to see what AP rates for Dec offers. I am hoping to save $$$ but not counting on it.

At that time of the year, I too have found that the AAA rate is better. I have been to WDW in December 2006 and December 2007 and used AAA both times. I saved about $75 more than the AP rate for CR room with an MK view, but they didn't have any AAA rooms avail at AKL, so I at least was able to get the AP discount and didn't have to pay rack rate.

You can also purchase an AP at a discounted price through a AAA in GA. Their price is $425.75 plus tax for an adult AP.

I didn't realize you could get a discounted AP rate. I will have to remember that when we need to buy a new AP next year.

Yes, in Ga. But that only pertains to a new purchase, not a renewal. Renewals are only avail at WDW.

We always get a new one because we get a minimum of two trips out of each one. We bought an AP for Jan '08 trip and will go again in Dec. Plus we will try to squeeze short Oct trip in if we can. Then in Jan '10 we will buy another new one and do the same thing. I will have to check to see if PA offers discounted AP. Thanks for the info.

Okay. They may not, all states don't, but you can still purchase them in Ga. If you want info for the office I use, please PM me and I will share.

I called AAA in PA and was told they did not sell APs. Would I be able to purchase one thru a AAA in GA?
