Is it worth joining AAA to get a discount at Disney? Are the AAA discounts good for this July? Is there a website to check the rates for this? TIA!

The AAA room only rates for 2011 were released in August 2010, so you would need to call and see what dates for July 2011 they are available for. Now their discount is between 10% - 20%, however it's not as good when comparing them to the current room only discounts from WDW or Annual Pass rates. Finally for whatever reason you can not look up the AAA rates online, so you need to call the Disney Reservation Center and a Cast Member will look them up for you.

In general no. I usually initially book with a AAA rate but EVERY trip there has been a much better discount released.

As of now there are no room only discounts for July available. :( It seems the time period from early June through mid/late August is completely being skipped over.

I'm booked at rack rate for July right now and am having a hard time stomaching it. I asked about AAA when I booked and was told that you cannot add dining plan when you book with a AAA discount? Is this true?

I don't think so... call your AAA agent directly to be sure. They can apply the public discount offers, along with their discount.

The AAA discount on rooms is usually around 10%. I have had them book room only, and a room & tix, and a full package with dining, at various times... when a better pin code or bounce-back wasn't available.

Good luck finding your best deal!! :flower3:

Well starting August 14 - October 1st WDW is having a room only discount and from August 17 - August 31 we are getting 35% off at the Boardwalk Inn, so it's not being skipped over.

Now while it's true WDW does not have a room only discount promotion for any dates in July 2011, the AAA rates are different and don't come from them. So I would be surprised if they told AAA not to release any of their discounts for that month. Plus some of the Cast Members don't have the correct information regarding AAA rates, so maybe you should call back and see what someone else might say.

We inquired about this very subject with our AAA TA, when Disney was still offering the Free dining (which was until Dec 20, 2010). What she told us was either we get the Free dining, or we get the room only discount (Please correct me if I am wrong). Which in our case is 20% off during our stay in September 2011 at the AKL-Kidani village. You can always go into a AAA office and pick up one of their booklets, if you have AAA. It holds the answers to your questions.Hope this helps.

True. You cannot combine discounts. However, if you are getting the AAA room rate you should still be able to get the dining plan. It is also possible that there are no more rooms left for a promotion on the dates you are looking. Not all rooms are discounted, only a certain # are. I LOVE my AAA and hardly ever use it for my WDW vacations other than purchasing tickets (they sell park tickets too). I was able to get the AAA diamond parking pass which allowed me to park up front near the handicapped parking. Loved this having a child in a stroller. I also use my membership for discounts at movies, restaurants etc. Check out your local AAA website and see what kind of discounts they offer. I more than make up for the membership price in the discounts I get.

Good luck with your decision.

Plus AAA rates are usually good 365 days a year - no blackout dates. My Thanksgiving week stay is available for AAA rates, whereas there are absolutely NO Disney discounts during that week, and usually never are. So, if you are locked into certain dates, AAA may be your best best. They wills ave us about $600 on our week stay - not as good as PIN or Disney discount, but MUCH better than nothing.

Not quite "no blackout dates." There are no AAA discounts during Holiday season (this year it was 12/17-1/1).

We just got a AAA 10% discount for the All Star Movies for the end of June. I booked a room-only ressie and will keep eagerly looking to see if Disney comes up with a room-only for the same period. The 10% wasn't much but it beats no discount at all. :)
