do they care?
how much would my own card cost? after the cost is it worth the savings? are tickets discounted as well as rooms? pkgs? I am considering the 7day tickets with park hopper and plus (water parks) and adding the no-exp option to use the add'l dates at a later date for a mini break?

what other discounts can you get with AAA?

The WDW Corporation would care, and so would AAA. They both lose money if you use a card that doesn't belong to you. However, whether the owner of the card would care or not would depend on the owner.

Every AAA is regional. Each region sets its own membership rate.

All 3 types of discounts are available thru AAA. You can check with your local AAA office for prices. Each one will have different tickets available and different pricing. To get a package rate, contact a AAA travel agent. You can book room rates yourself as long as you have a AAA membership. Discounts range between 10%-15% off the rack rate depending upon the type of resort and the season.

AAA offers discounts on many hotels, car insurance, rental cars, restaurants, cell phones, driver's education courses and prescription plans to name a few. Go to AAA.com and enter your zip code to see what your regional AAA offers.

Also if a person lent you their card and had their car break down they could not identify themselves as an AAA member to get Emergency Road Service. You must have your AAA card with you to get ERS.

Our first trip to WDW we used AAA for a room discount at ASM, purchased our 5 day hoppers at a discount and reveived a discount on our HDDR tickets. Our saving more than made up for the cost of a year of AAA. In addition we had roadside coverage for the trip and saved money on hotel and attractions during a few smaller trips that year. They do ask for your AAA card at check in. No sharing allowed.

The membership is more than worth it for the great travel books and maps they will send you. I have it all set up via the website. I just click the travel books and maps and they come in the mail a few days later.

Yes, you would have to have your own card for the discount. The card name must match the reservation name for the discount on room only.

I've never had to show my card for emergency road service (I've had lockout service, towing, and a change of a flat tire). Maybe I was just lucky, though.

I'm not sure if you'd be able to use someone else's card. I know that my membership card has my name imprinted on it, so if the naem doesn't match the reservation, it might be questioned.

Good luck!

I have been asked to show my card for road service. I rarely have to for hotel rooms, but I've also never used it for a Disney-owned hotel room, and they tend to be a bit more particular about who qualifies for what discount.

If you just want to buy the tickets, you just need someone with a card to go to the office and buy them for you. Once you have the tickets, you don't need to show ID to use them. If you want to book a room, you need a card in your name. I am not sure if they always check, but I always have my card in hand when I check-in. I think the usual room discount is around 15%. We pay $59 for DH and $29 for me to be members. It is worth the money to us because we use the roadside assistance. DH used it 3x's last year, and they were all the same week!!

I have had to show my card for hotel rooms, road service and restauant use every time and when using it at other places (10% at Payless Shoes, Napa Parts, etc.)
It is well worth the money. We only carry it on me since when we go on a vacation I'm always along for the ride. :)
But I also go on trips to see my family without DH - and he (and I) feel better knowing I have some kind of back up.
The list of restaurants is long and most are in major cities and give a 10% discount. Landry's (in the 'other' theme park), Joe's Crab Shack.

I must say that I've used the AAA discount three times and have never once had to show my card at check in.

Hilton.com and all their properties now require you to input your AAA numer to even see what the discounted rate is!

I'd bet any 16-digit number works.

(And, I think that's a total pain, because not only do I not have my number memorized, but the hilton site has the field encoded in a way that my browser won't memorize it.)
