Can you apply a AAA discount to any room at a resort or only to a certain category of room at a resort? I am not a member and am wondering if it would be worthwhile to join for the Disney discount? I was also wondering if I booked room only resservation and bought tickets from AAA would they be the hard plastic ticket like a credit card or a tyvek? Thanks for any info you can give me! :goodvibes

AAA discounts can be applied to most rooms at disney. There may be a limited number of rooms available, so you may need to be flexible if the room you want is not available. You can book a room only AAA discount directly through disney. You can then buy tickets anyplace you like for the best price you can find.
I've never bought tickets from AAA so don't know what they are like.

Thank you brentalex. It is good to know that AAA can be applied to more than a standard category room.

to see if it's worth joining, you could call CRO and ask them what the AAA rate is for the time period you're interested in. Sometimes the discount is as much as 20%. If you were staying in a moderate, you might "make back" what you paid in membership fees with one three night stay. Plus, there are quite a few other membership perks w/your card (maps, tour books, discounts on lots of attractions, roadside assistance, 10% off at the Hard Rock cafe, etc etc).

And if you get a AAA package that includes tickets and dining, then you can get special parking passes, discounts at DTD and some other perks. I'm thinking that the only time the ticket would be the hard plastic kind is if you *do* book the whole package thru AAA....I have only used them for the room-only discount, tho, so I'm not positive....

Thank you llqool. We went through a travel agent last time and I am sure we paid full price for everything. I am not sure I want to go through an agent again since you have no control over your reservation. We also live in a very rural area and it is unlikely that we would have a AAA travel agent that knew Disney inside out. I don't need the DDP, just room and tickets. We saw many people using the "paper" like tickets on trip and many of them had a hard time getting through the turnstiles so I am trying to avoid them.

well, if you are only interested in a room, you can make the AAA ressies yourself thru CRO (vs. using an AAA agent), so it still may be worth it to see if the rate is good enough to make it worth your while to join. Also, I believe AAA will mail you tickets if you order from them. We have actually found undercover tourist to have better rates than they do, esp if you use the mousesavers newsletter code.

and as for the paper tickets...i just read in another thread (sorry i can't remember which one!) that Guest Svcs can sometimes put paper tickets, even ones you have bought elsewhere, on your Key to the World card. Haven't done this myself, but i would definitely ask about it!!!

We bought our tickets from AAA last week and ours are the hard plastic with the different characters on them. They cost us $1 less (total for all tickets) than UT (with Mousesavers link) for 3A/2C for 7 day base MYW tickets.
This is our budget trip due to the appliances in our house not behaving so we also booked our room only through Disney using the AAA discount.
