We currently have whatever the "camping roadside assistance" thing is (can't remember the name right now but it comes in the mail with all the Camping World type mailings) ......

But I was thinking with various AAA discounts at WDW and other places, maybe we should get AAA instead. Does AAA cover RV's and travel trailers for towing and roadside assistance?

You would have to get AAA RV Plus. We had regular AAA and upgraded to that when we got our motorhome.

We found that AAA RV Plus was not the best deal for us. We had regular AAA for our 4 vehicles and it was about $100 per year. AAA RV Plus was going to be $165 per year.

We decided to drop our AAA down to 1 person at $42 per year for the Disney Discounts, then purchased Good Sam Club Roadside assistance for $89 for the 1st year which covers all 4 vehicles AND our camper. If we had also joined Good Sam Campground membership at $33.00 for three years, we would have gotten the towing service for $79 for the first year.

We prefer State Parks and KOAs, so we didn't join the actual campground membership.

Go to http://www.goodsamers.com/ for information.

Ours luckily isn't that high. Our membership is under dh's name and can be used in any vehicle he is in. It is just he and I and we are almost always together so that is the way we did it. So it was just upgraded to add the RV plus option. I think ours is around $75 but I will double check and post it here.

We have 20 & 21 YO boys with older cars, and they are both still living at home and either going to school, or working part time. So that's why the high bill on the AAA for us. Once the boys are footing their own bills, we'll reexamine our Roadside Assistance needs.

I'm still carrying both of our kids as associate members, and it bumps the AAA bill up pretty good.

Be aware, RV service, through AAA, is not available everywhere due to equipment limitations. I have RV Roadhelp through KOA and Allstate. They cover everything including towing your golf cart trailer, which most won't.

I should have mentioned yesterday that we don't just have our AAA. Our insurance policy has roadside assistance and it covers towing and includes any trailer you may be towing. I have heard of some limitations although if you ask AAA they won't admit it.
