I have a AAA room only discount booked right now through Disney. If I want to switch to a package with tickets and the dining plan, can Disney do that or do I have to actually go through a AAA travel agent? I'd rather just work with Disney directly. Anyone know? :goodvibes

Really? I mean they will have to cancel the reservation and then rebook as a package either way, but if there is still rooms available with the AAA discount, I don't see why you cannot book it through disney direct. I've always booked AAA discounts through disney with no problem. It just depends on availability of rooms with that rate. But usually when you cancel a room reservation and rebook as a package, you can still get your rate you had. If you are far enough in advance, you may want to wait to book it as a package anyway, because a better disney discount may be out for when you go. And also, if your trip is sooner, aren't the discounts offered now better than the AAA discount rate?

I have booked a package directly through Disney using the AAA discount. They book the room, applying the discount to the room portion only and then ask if you want to add tickets and the dining plan. All package rules apply such as a $200 deposit and a 45 day cancellation policy.

I think that the reason that you would have to cancel is that you currently have a room only reservation. Since you have an existing reservation, Disney would cancel the existing room only reservation and rebook as a package...but it can be done.

Exactly. Call them.

Perfect, thank you!!! :goodvibes

I had seen a few people recently saying that they booked AAA packages through Disney and I was surprised at this because I'd always been told that AAA packages had to be booked through AAA and that only a AAA Room Only could be handled by Disney.

Thankfully, I love my AAA TA, so I don't mind going thru AAA. She's in a different state from me, so we've never actually met in person and we do everything via phone and email, but she really knows her stuff. (When I went to my local AAA office to talk to them about Disney, I knew more than they did, so I really didn't want to use them. Thanks to the DIS, I was referred to the TA that I now work with.)
