AAA Question--MUST They CALL When You Request Quote?

I want to request a quote thru AAA but the online form says an AAA person will call me shortly. I prefer not to be called. I don't know if we will go to Disney this year or not, I'm merely doing some research as to what the rates are to see if it's something even remotely possible for us. So WHY do they call, anyway? They already ask for all the info they need. I just really prefer an online relationship right now and am frustrated that doesn't seem possible. The other travel places I've requested quotes from don't require a phone call. Any experience with this thru AAA? I've only been a member of AAA for a few months and never used their travel agency before. Is it generally cheaper than going thru Disney yourself? Thanks!

Are you getting a package with dining or just room only with separate tickets?

Only AAA can do a discounted package with dining, but you or any TA can call Disney directly to get a AAA discounted room only reservation.

Yes it is cheaper to go through AAA. They call you to let you know what the quote information is (remember it can change up until the time you do a deposit). Personally, when someone emails me for a quote, it is an online relationship until it is decided that the potential client wants to book. Then they call me. But yes, AAA wants to make the whole experience personal, the reason for the phone call.

I had an AAA agent call me through the online form, but after the initial chat we have communicated by email. It was less painful than I expected. :)

LOL, Gillian! How long did you chat? What did she want to know, what did she ask?

Instead of putting in my phone number i typed in PLEASE DO NOT CALL. I worried that i wouldnt get the best service....but since things arent definite for us either i felt the same way you do. I did get a quote back that seems to be pretty typical. Less than 15% a night off during peak at a value. It did take 2 or 3 days to get the quote (yesterday). And I replied with some more questions so we shall see...I havent heard anything else yet.

Well I definetely must be doing something wrong because when I go to the AAA site and click on Disney Vacations (I think it's disney something) it just tells me to call, no place for me to put in dates or anything. What am i doing wrong??

I find this thread very amusing, as I usually see people complaining about the lack of personal service when dealing with an online travel agency, ie. not having a phone number to call or not having the agent call them!

I found Kristins email on the boards when I was unahppy with my local AAA ta. I emailed her and within hours heard back. She has been very very helpful and immediate to respond to my (thousands of) questions... I'd recommend her highly. Her email link is elsewhere around here...Someone reliable like her would be easy to speak with and not pushy if you are not interested in the end in working with her...

We book AAA rates, but I always call WDW directly - never AAA. Yes, you still have to talk to someone, but at least my call ends wth the joy of hearing "have a Magical Day". We have only done room resies - no packages, but all I do is ask for the AAA rate and they give it to me. I book it, get my confirmation in the mail and it is as easy as that. We just have ou AAA card with us when we check in.

I booked our last trip through AAA and did almost all of it via e-mail - got the quote, did the deposit, put in my requests. The only time I talked to my TA was when she was kind enough to call to tell me she was going to Disney herself right up until the time I was leaving for my trip, but she had my documents in hand, was sending them out and gave me the name of another TA I could call if I had questions or problems while she was gone.

To get a room only quote without speaking to a TA, try this: go to the aaa website and find the travel section, click on "hotels", you should be able to do a search for Disney properities based on your dates and should be able to see the aaa rate for those dates/properties. I always do this before I contact AAA to book - it gives me a really good idea of what the quote is going to be!

Yes, you can get the AAA room-only discount by going directly through Disney. However! If you book your package through AAA, you get a lot of little perks like luggage tags, AAA special parking passes, discounts at DTD, etc. They are also offering some other incentives if you book in January - a little gift plus a special character storytelling.

Anyway - I have been incredibly happy with AAA booking my Disney travel! Good luck and have a great trip!

I did a quote from AAA this week online. They just emailed me back the quote. But I also didn't put my phone number on the online form. Just my email address. I recieved the quote within 48 hours.

She just asked me what I was looking for, to confirm the online request. It was a good chance to ask her questions as well!

Sometimes it's better to talk on the phone because you can ask whatever questions come to mind as you're talking, without sending 30 emails. :)

In my case, I needed to confirm that I was booking the right kind of FW campsite anyway. I wanted a preferred site, for which the description is almost identical to that of a full hookup site.

Anyway, I have found my agent to be very helpful!
