AAA question....is this correct?

Hi, I called AAA office to see about rates for the free dining program offered this fall. I'm not sure if the TA has this correct. He quoted me $368 less than Disney when I booked my package Sunday. Is AAA allowed to still give the discounted room rate on top of the free dining plan? I am afraid to cancel my original Disney quote for the Polynesian 9/9 -9/16 in case he is in error. Is there anyway to handle this without fear of losing my room at the Polynesian with the free dining?
Thank you for your help.

Call them back and ask them to put it all in writing, including the types of tickets, room type (garden view? Lagoon view? etc.) and make sure that it does indeed include free dining. The confirmation number should begin with a K if it has the free dining package.

To me, it looks like they quoted you a AAA package with a GV room, including the AAA discount of 15% off the rack rate. Since the discounts are not supposed to be stackable, I would be suspicious as well. $368 is EXACTLY the difference in cost between a rack rate and the AAA discount for 7 nights when you factor in tax.

Thank you for the advice. I am leary about booking with AAA since I am so confused about their policies on changing anything in your reservation. Is is true there is a $25 charge per person to change anything in your reservation or to cancel before the 45 days? I know there is a charge at the 45 day mark or less. I like the advice on getting everything in writing, since the TA is giving me a stackable rate.
Thanks again,

I haven't been on the receiving end of any kind of charges for changing your reservation through AAA. I just changed my complete package (length of time, dates and amount of people) to get the free dining. I even added an extra room only to that. No extra charge for me.

I went in to AAA on Saturday to do this and although the AAA agent had no idea what I was talking about, I was able to discover on Sunday through a rep from AAA's 800 number that you give up the room discount when you take free dining.

In most cases, the discount is 20% for value and mod, 15% for deluxe during value season. Since the cost of a standard view room at WL is $205/night, the AAA discount is only about $30/night. With 2 adults and 2 kids, the cost of the dining plan is $97.96/day, which gives me the benefit of over $60/night. And considering we eat more than $97.96/day in food, it's even a better deal.

Of course, everything is dependent on whether you eat 1CS and 1TS per day with your family. If not, or you can get an AP rate and use DDE and not choose to eat as "completely" for lack of a better word, the dining plan may not be the best choice. Every family is different and YMMV.

I definitely think he made a mistake on your quote....you may get lucky on it but then again when he actually calls Disney and confirms the ressie, he will probably be corrected......of course depending on CM on the other line because we all know how that goes. ;) I would count on it being a mistake but if you get it then it must be your lucky day. :thumbsup2 I believe with AAA you sign something that says if there was an error in the quote that they can correct it. I am not positive on that but I do faintly remember something to that wording. I just saw that you were already booked with Disney......I would just keep it that way. I do think he made a mistake. The discounts can't be combined just like last year.

We lost our AAA discount too but still saved $1790 more than the AAA discount quote....$2312 off of rack rate so I didn't really care that I lost the AAA discount. Free dining was a much bigger deal for us.
