AAA parking

Do you need some kind of special thing to use the AAA parking at the parks? We have a AAA card but we aren't using it for any discounts so I am not sure what we need to get the good parking? And I know the AAA spaces are closer but are they the same price as regular spots?

The only way I know is that when we buy our park tickets at AAA they give us a pass we show when parking to the attendants.

You have to have the Diamond Pass from AAA. If you buy your park tickets at AAA, they will sometimes (but not always) give you one - if you buy a package there you will for sure get one. However, they do not always allow you to use it at the Disney Parks. If it is a super crowded day/time of year, they will direct you to regular parking. I had a Diamond Pass last year at Easter, and was not allowed to use them at any park.

1) Go to your AAA office.
2) IN MOST CASES, they just hand you the Diamond Parking Pass.
3) Without buying tickets or packages.
4) But, each office is different.
5) BEWARE: the actual spaces allowed are limited, and go quickly each morning.

My local office refuses to give them out unless you buy.

Last Easter I arrived at Epcot well before park opening for a dining reservation, and was told by the parking attendant there that they do not let anyone park in diamond parking when the parks are really busy. There was no way that those spaces were already gone, they just weren't honoring it. I ended up parking pretty close to the gate anyway in the regular parking, we were there so early.

Our AAA membership is from AZ. I live in OH. I called the office here and they told me to call AZ. I called AZ and they told me they don't have any WDW packages because they are closer to Disneyland. If I go into the office here in OH will they help me even if my card says AZ?
