AAA Package question

I know how the room only AAA discount works. When doing a package, does AAA give you a discount off the ticket AND dining plan, too....or is it just the room part that is discounted by AAA?

So if I'm understanding this right.....the main reason people book a package with AAA is if they want the room (at the AAA rate), tickets, and the dining plan; because if you book room only (AAA rate) with Disney you cannot add the dining plan. Is this correct?

You are correct. In order to get the dining plan with a AAA discount on the room, you have to book through AAA.

I booked thru AAA but only for room and tickets, no meal plan. Could I have gotten a better deal by only purchasing room thru AAA and getting tickets elsewhere?

I did the same as you. I think that it comes out pretty equal (someone tell me if I'm wrong). However...I think the benefit is this - if Disney offers a code, or a special like the free Dining Plan, or Free Waterparks, the only way you'd be able to benefit is to have a package deal like we do. Then we'd have to decide if that deal is better than the AAA room rate (because they don't let you do both) but at least we'd have that option. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

If a different code comes out and it is cheaper than your AAA room discount, you CAN have your AAA rep apply it but you will lose the AAA discount. You cannot use two discounts for the same ressie, so you'd have to decide which discount is a better deal for you. HTH!
