AAA Package - Can you cancel?

I booked a package with free dining with AAA and now would like to cancel that package. I can't find anywhere on their website or on my confirmation what their cancellation policy is? I've paid the $200 deposit on it so I'm worried I won't get that back? I am 89 days away so I'm hoping there is a "grace" period. I would like to rebook directly with CRO. My agent I'm working with is not easy to work with, and I would find it a lot less stressful if I could just book with CRO and deal with my reservation myself.

Anyone cancel before? Or know what the cancellation policy is?

Thanks!

You should be able to get the deposit back up until the 45 day mark. Two things for you to know, though, before you cancel:

1--Your AAA ressie should have a discount on the room rate and booking direct with Disney you'll be paying rack rates so it will cost 15 to 20% more on the room portion of your trip

2--There was a limited number of rooms available at each resort for the Free dining promotion. According to some people who've tried to book, the resort they wanted was sold out and they had to make another choice....so you may not get the same hotel you have now.

Um, no. Even booking with AAA, adding the free dining package discount code made the room rate revert to rack rate. I had the exact same trip book with AAA and with CRO for the exact same price. I ended up keeping the AAA reservation, mainly for the parking pass, but dealing with CRO myself would probably have been easier than getting the AAA agent on the phone every time I needed to ask a question or change something.

That's what I thought, too. Even posted here on disboards that you have to pay full rate going through AAA if getting the dining package because that's what I'd been lead to believe by another site sponsored by a travel company. After being corrected here...by several people :flower: , I called AAA. My AAA rate with dining does include a discount on the room....it's an almost $200 difference between the Disney package quote and the AAA package quote...and both are without insurance. Double checked with both.

My two quotes aren't based on the free plan, though. Both quotes have me paying for the dining plan....which may be the difference in yours and mine. To get the dining totally free....maybe you have to pay rack rate no matter who you book through.

YMMV,

AAA can book a package with dining plan and AAA rate on the room. Not sure who said otherwise, but it definitely can be done. I had it booked.

BUT with FREE dining, like I have and like the OP has, the room is rack rate. Period. No matter who it is booked through.

You and I are saying the same thing. But your answer #1 to the OP is incorrect. She has FREE dining on her exisiting reservation. So her price with CRO will be the same as AAA, it won't cost her more to book with CRO.

Don't forget, though, that you also get the AAA diamond card (I think that's what it's called) which gets you 10%-20% off on some of the activities, like the backstage tours, boat rides, mini golf, etc; souveniers at World of Disney store; spa treatments; and other things. Plus the preferred parking spots (if you will have a car).

If you plan on doing these things, AAA could save you $$ with these offers.

I happen to be a fan of AAA, but then again, I am happy with my agent there. I say do what will make things easier for you in the long run... this is all supposed to be FUN, so if it isn't, it's not worth the few bucks you might save. :goodvibes

Hey all! Thanks for the replies. I am paying rack rate for my room through AAA even though my agent insists it is with the AAA discount. Yesterday I called CRO and booked another package with free dining and it came to the exact same price I had with AAA. I then emailed my agent and told her I would like to cancel my package (based on her last very snippy and rude email she sent me). I did not hear back from her, and wonder if I ever will? I am now getting nervous she may not cancel my reservation or drag her feet until I'm within the 45 day window so I lose $100 of my deposit? I'm thinking perhaps I should send a certified or registered letter to her attention at the AAA office, or call and speak directly to her supervisor? Any advice? I will never never deal with AAA again. Much easier to go through Disney.

I would call your AAA office and speak with another agent. You should be able to cancel with anyone in AAA office. IF you get your original agent or any agent for that matter ask for the cancellation # which she should have if ressie cancelled. This way you will be ok!

DO you lose the discount if you add Dining but it is not the free dining promotion? We have a trip booked w/out dining but are considering adding it. Will we lose the room discount or is it only on the free offer?

You dont get anything absolutely free...Through AAA you get the discount but when you add on the dining plan, you wind up paying more for your room. My husband and I added it to ours and we wound up paying 121 more for the "free" dining. I didnt get ripped off or anything because in the end we are still paying less than what we would have for dining.

The cancellation fees take effect at 44 days out. If you cancel at like 32 days out you pay a fee. But remember you do have to pay a AAA cancellation fee per person.

You will only lose the AAA room discount if you book the free dining offer. Adding the paid MYW dining plan to a AAA package will NOT make you lose the AAA room discount.

I don't know about the other activities, but we received the discount for the backstage tours with our AAA card even though we did not book through AAA - I made the ressies through CRO. If you want to do apply the AAA discount for the extra activities just ask as the AAA discount may still apply.

If you are paying for dining, you will keep your room discount IF you booked your package with AAA. You will have a problem if you have room only with AAA discount booked through CRO - they can't book AAA rates with a package, just room only.

This is how I ended up with AAA in the first place. I wanted a package with AAA discount so I had to book with AAA. Then the free dining deal came out and I'm paying the same booking with AAA as I would be if I booked through CRO.

Make sense?
