AAA (NOT DISNEY!) charged me to apply the code!!!

So after reading this, I am still a bit confused. Did Disney charge for the change to the package or did AAA charge for the change? I was under the impression that you could do anything to your ressie up until day 46 and when you hit 45 and beyond (countdown), you were then charged. Is this not correct?

I just cant stand how one part of an organization (AAA) can be so different from another! Why is one 1. Charging for a Disney package and 2. Not telling you your benefits??? You are supposed to get the Diamond discount card, the voucher to the AAA lounge in the Magic Kingdom and also get a voucher for up front parking (if you are renting a car). Sheesh...it isnt that difficult!!!

Without going into any identifying detail (but VERY certain I was not dealing with skbasnett), I went into an AAA office to see about a DisneyLand package. Being fairly certain there was no on-site availability (I do a LOT of my own research!), I asked about Good Neighbor properties. The TA's response? "What's a Good Neighbor property?" Now, I understand not EVERY Travel Agent can know EVERY detail about EVERY location - but I bet if I'd been dealing with skbasnett, she'd have known (and if not, I bet she goes into work this week and finds out, so that when I DO come into or call her office, she'll know what I'm talking about :teeth:

bytheblood,

I dont know who charged me. AAA blamed Disney, but no one else here seems to have been charged for doing the same thing. The moral of my story is stick up for yourself. After questioning AAA the fee was "mysteriously" removed by Disney. I have my own theory but who knows...
Not all AAA agencies are alike though. I just happen to ge a bad one.

kaytieeldr ~~ Thanks for the vote of confidence!!! I do know what the Good Neighbor properties are...albeit I had no idea until I took the Disney College of Knowledge course, but yes I do know. And I would (had you have come into our office and asked), if I didnt already know, take out the DisneyLand brochure. The list of Good Neighbor properties are in the back!! Anytime you are ready to jump over to our agency just pm me and let me know! I would be glad to help you!!

AAA is a strange animal. I just finished with a grand gathering that had been booked through AAA but they canceled and re-booked with me AFTER the reservations were paid in full for before the 45 day mark. AAA quit explicitly lied to my client by saying that there would be a $100 fee per room to cancel, oh and saying this fee came from Disney not them. Of course that isn't the case and I helped my clients get it straightened out. AAA dosen't want to loose their bookings and with this new code I imagine they have lost many bookings.

The only time Disney charges a change fee is if you are within the 45 day period and your package price is decreasing. AP reservation are different and getting more and more complicated to change.

I have never been a proponent of pre-booking at rack rates, (unless you can pay rack) and now I am definately against it.

Not everyone uses the same "jargon". Instead of asking for a good neighbor hotel you might have just asked for a hotel near Disney. AFAIK the only thing special about a "good neighbor" hotel is Disney lets them sell tickets.

This is exactly why I will never book with AAA. I would rather use one of the online agencies that specialize in Disney for my packages. As soon as a discount code is released they apply it to my existing package. I might not get the initial discount up front, but I end up with an even better discount than AAA when all is said and done, and I am not charged any fees!!
