We will be visiting Disneyland for two days around 7/11/04. I know that July is peak season. We were not planning on booking a package deal (like we usually do at WDW). We were going to drive up and spend a night or two (free hotel with Marriott points) while we were in San Diego.

Now I hear about the multiple fastpass option thru AAA packages ( I am a AAA member already). We have been to WDW three times in the past three years and just wanted to see what was different in California. I am sure there are many rides that are duplicated in the parks -- it wouldn't be the end of the world if we missed those.

To make a long story short -- how much would you think "multiple fastpasses" would be worth? I know when we went to Universal Florida it made a huge difference to flash our room card and go to the express lane. I have an impatient husband and three kids (4,6,8). Do you think this will have a huge impact on how much you do in a day at the parks? In July do the fastpass machines sell out early like WDW in peak times?

Plus, they are offer "preferred" seating to certain shows with the package -- is there much benefit to that perk?

Also, if you had a choice of going Mon/Tues or Tues/Wed to the parks it would be better to go Tues/Wed, right? Aren't parks normally more crowded on Mon due to people taking long weekends?

Any opinions on this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We had the multiple fastpasses for our trip the week after Christmas - they were great!

I don't know if it would be worth it to book a package for them though (wouldn't be for us) you'd have to compare and see how much more you would be paying.

There were days when fast passes for the most popular rides were completely gone for the day by early afternoon - but then we were there on some of the busiest days of the year!

While the ability to collect multiple fast passes was nice - it doesn't even compare to front of the line access at Universal!

I was able to purchase my AAA park-hopper plus tickets without buying a package. I believe it was the same cost as buying a park-hopper pass at the gate or through other methods except that we got added bonuses including the multiple fast-passes and a breakfast coupon. I thought the multiple fast-passes was very cool. In my opinion it is most valuable if you go during busy periods and if you go to the parks early in the day when you have the most fast-pass availability. We used the breakfast coupon for brunch at Goofy's kitchen, a value of $25 since it covered the tax and tip. I believe you also get free parking at the park (but we didn't have a car, so that didn't affect us). Ours was a "5 for the price of 3" day pass. Availability and perks may be different in 04.

They are now only available by purchasing a package through AAA and if you are staying on Disney Property.

IMO - unless you had planned on staying at a Disney hotel the benefit of the unlimited FP is outweighted by the cost.

Personally, we found the multiple fastpass option great. However, if you don't want to spend the extra money to stay onsite, you still can get several fastpasses at a time - not all rides are networked. I posted the list in early December of networked vs non-networked rides. If you want the list and can't find using search option, I will be happy to repost it.

Hi all - We're going President's weekend and we have the AAA MultiPass Fast Pass thingy for 5 days - only we'll only be there on Sat Sun & Mon, which leaves two days on our passes. Hate to see them go to waste since we have no use for them. If you get the drift of this, please PM me!

In most cases the passes will expire 13 days after first use. So be sure that your trip will be within this 13 days (example Party A goes Feb 12 - 14, Party B must use the last day by Feb 24.)

Thanks for the advice!

I think we will stick to the original plan -- staying offsite (free) and taking our chances. We just got back from a week at WDW (10/03) and we are going on the Disney cruise in 03/05! This trip was supposed to be a quick peek at DL and I guess I should keep it that way.

I bought a guide to DL and was surprised to see so much duplication of the rides/shows at WDW. There are only a handful of things we absolutely must see/do.

I also saw the posting on the non-networked rides -- having that knowledge is great!

Thanks again!

Yes there is a lot of duplication. The Magic Kingdom, itself is a duplication of Disneyland (park). But even with that duplication there are difference within each of the "duplicated" rides. The only attractions which are complete copies are the 3-D/4-D movies/attractions (Muppets, Honey Shrunk, etc).

Go have fun but please try to not compare the Disneyland Resort experience to the WDW Resort experience because they are infact two completely different experiences. And there is no way Disneyland Resort can ever become they same type of Resort as WDW, it is afterall in the middle of Anaheim.
