Hi,

We will be driving from Wisconsin to Florida for our trip next April. People talk about AAA and the discounts available to members. Is it worth joining AAA for the discounts? We have already booked at All Star Movies, so can I join AAA and then call them back for the discount?

I am all for getting the most bang for the buck. I think cost to join is $51.00

Thanks for your help on this matter.

Check out your local AAA discounts. Ours include attractions at all local attractions, plus most hotel chains give big AAA discounts. We usually recoup our dues in discounts every year and then some. Also, if you are driving you have the added protection of help if you have car trouble.

Just signed up today and got the plus feature. For a little more you get the coverage further than 5 miles. Check with AAA to be sure.
PS - Already saved big on our Swan reservation and the Polynesian for next spring!!

It has already paid for itself and then some!!

Enjoy!!:D

Yes AAA is worth it because the road side serivice. It has been a life saver for when my car die one year. I have had AAA ever since. I consider the discounts a extra.

Plus you can get any number of maps and tour books for the US and Canada. Also, used to be that you could get travelers cheques without a fee (don't know if this is still the case). AAA also has discounts to other attractions besides WDW. I've been a member for years and it has been worth it.

Definately get a AAA membership. You will not be sorry. The savings alone on your Disney trip will be enough to cover the cost and then some. There are local stores (where I am from) that when I show them my card I get % off of regular prices. Not including the hotel discounts, road side assistance and towing service. Very well worth every cent!!

We also have AAA. I feel alot better when I drive down to disney from NJ knowing that god for bid something happens, we have the AAA. I also use it for the discount on the resorts in case a code or something better doesn't come around. And, as a mother of 2 teen drivers, boy did it save me money, between one of them running out of gas, and 3 accidents, the towing was thankfully covered with AAA. Plus th triptiks, and the maps are a help also. Its a good thing to have and after you use it one time, it paid for itself......

I recommend you buy the Plus. AAA is relatively inexpensive for all the discounts and perks not to mention road side services you get. We are AAA contractors which means we come and help you and tow you or service you when you:

Run out of gas we can bring you 2 gals
Unlock your car
Change Your tire
Jump you off
We TOW you 100 Miles for FREE when you have the plus option.

Something a LOT of people are not straight on with AAA is the membership goes with YOU the memeber not your vechile! So this means if your riding with your mom and she locks her keys up YOU call and we service YOU. If your in your husbands car and it dies we come get you. Another VERY nice feature of AAA if your ever in an accicent ANYWHERE and the law must call a tow truck all you do is say i want the AAA towing service on rotation and then we come get you. If you don't request the AAA on call wrecker YOU will be charge in our town atleast 75 if the accident occurs betweeen 6a.m until 10 after that the cost is 85 for acciendents 10p.m. - 6 a.m these charges are almost always set by the city and county police deparments so unless you want to pay a HUGE tow bill just request your AAA to work for you. There are many other nice features of AAA that i can't remember those are the main ones people are concerned with. I strongly recommend you buy PLUS if your gonna buy because if you go for the BASIC memebership you get 5 miles free towing this is the main difference in the two memeberships. With basic we tow you 5 miles and then it's 2.50 a mile thereafter! So you could run up a large bill quickly! We sell AAA Plus memeberships for 85.00 a year now that's a steal!!!! If you use it at all you've recouped your monies. It's very easy to sign up all they need is very basic information on you take 2 minutes, can be done over the phone with a cc and you will have a temp # before you hand up so you memebership goes into effect at that moment. You could walk to your car 5 minutes later and call for service! When you are ready to renew your memebership goes down from the 85 a year i believe it's 55 don't quote me on that cause we dont' renew memebers are our shop we just sign up new ones. And i get a contractor rate so i'm not sure but i know it's a steal for what your getting. You get maps, trip tick's, you have access to there online site, great insurance discounts and so much more!!!! If you have questions you can pm for help if i don't know the answer i can find out for you.

Thanks for all the helpful information I get here on the boards. I will call and ask them to send information to us today.

We have had AAA for many years. I have used it a Pizza Hut, Car Rental-Hertz, Movie Tickets, NAPA, Payless Shoes, FTD, Reebok outlet.

We also use them anytime we are going on vacation. Their trip ticks gives information on Tolls and Construction which sometimes is really invaluable. I enjoy knowing that in two exits is a place to eat rather then not really knowing.

I have always gotten more for my membership then I have paid. I think that you will enjoy membership. Best of luck:Pinkbounc

I used to work there too and it is so worth it and I definitly recommend the PLUS membership, b/c when will you ever need to be towed only 3-5 miles?

And if you run out of gas with the plus you don't have to pay for the amount they bring you do with the standard

So yes get your AAA membership :).

My DD shows horses, and we travel out of town quite a bit. I joined AAA at the first of this year. The first stay that I used it for more than paid for it.

We got a 1 BR suite (DD usually takes a friend, since she's an only child, and we like the privacy of a suite) that included a full hot breakfast buffet for $63.99 per night. The regular discounted rate was $89.99 per night. We were there for 3 nights - savings of over $75.

I've used it at lots of hotels since then. Sometimes my government rate beats it but not always.

That's not even counting the additional security I feel now that I have it.

It's been a lifesaver for me! Well, not literally, but it's great!

In July DH got a flat tire at the train station. Rather than have him change it very late at night after a work dinner, I was able to meet AAA there for them to put on the spare. With a 1 month old and a 3 year old with me, it would have been very difficult to change it myself.

We've been towed home from Philadelphia to NJ after an accident. Twice I've locked my keys in the car. With the engine running.

And once, we locked the keys in the car (a rental) in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. Although it took over an hour for someone to drive out to us, they did come & unlock the door!

We've used their service so many times over the years that I just can't imagine not having it. The maps & books are wonderful, as are the hotel discounts. Their trip planning website is decent & helps you find hotels along your route, which is not an easy thing to do!

For Disney, AAA has been our back up discount. Luckily, something better has always come along, but the AAA discount is nice to have, just in case.

I get 20% off at the dry cleaners, too!

just wanted to add a few things:

-triptiks, maps, tourbooks all free with membership
-directions and routing anywhere in the US free with membership
-show your card and save (discounts at Payless, PErkins, Barnes and NObles, TGIFridays, Universal Studios shops and restuarants, etc the list is endless) your local club should be able to provide you with a list
-AAA Discount packages (especially to WDW)
-when booking a AAA WDW package, the AAA Diamond card which gives discounts on shops, restuarants, and tours at WDW
-road services
-gas, change of tire, jump start, towing (in our club 3 miles with the basic, 100 miles with the plus), winch, etc
-discounts amusement park tickets (Disney, Universal, Sea World, PHILLY ZOO, Baltimore Aqua., Hershey Park, Dorney Park, Camden Aqua, etc)
-our club has Notary service for members at no charge

There are alot of services that your club might provide in addition to the ones listed here (if i continued i'd be here all night!)

Not all clubs offer the sames services as each club is operated by a different board of directors. Again, it is best to check with your local club to see what they offer.

THE basic membership fee for our club is $55.00. The plus is an additional $25.00 for the 1st member. That membership only covers the person listed. You can add a spouse or dependent child under the age of 25 (for the child of course) living in your household for an additional $29 plus an extra $15.00 for the plus.
Our club also offers Plus RV which covers motors homes and motorcycles (which are not covered under the basic or the standard pluS) for an additional (i think) $50.00 a year.

Again, every club is different in what they charge and offer.

HOpe this helps!
