I hope someone can help clarify this for me :)

We booked a trip for the 4/3 in November for the end of April. Well, I'm preggie, so that's not happening, so we applied out deposit toward a December trip. But then it's all rack rate, no discounts.

DH has AAA, I was wondering if we can get an AAA rate, even though we booked our package that includes tickets, and we're thinking of adding on the DDP. I thought that the AAA rates were only for room-only packages?

Please help me out on this, I'm SO confused, and I forgot to ask today when I called. You're the gods and goddesses of all things Disney World, so I figured I'd get the right answer here.

Thank you!!

First CONGRATULATIONs on your pregnancy!

AAA discount:

ROOM ONLY: Can be booked through Disney Reservation directly or through a AAA travel agent.

PACKAGE: Can ONLY be booked through a AAA travel agent.

I am almost positive that you can transfer the current reservation you have through Disney to a travel agent of your choice. I'd contact a AAA travel agent and let them do the transfer for you.

Just make sure that if a better discount comes out through Disney, that your AAA travel agent will be able to apply it to your reservation.

Hope that helps a bit!

AAA can book you a package. You will get the AAA discount on the hotel portion of your room usually 20% off room rack rate. You will pay regular rates for the DDP & your tickets.

When you book the package through AAA you will get all the Disney package perks (coupons for searaycer rental, discounts at Planet Hollywood, the arcade card, etc.) You will also get some AAA extras like a 10% discount card you can use at any Disney store and the AAA Diamond Parking Pass (lets you park right next to the handicap parking so usually closer to the entrance than any other parking spaces)

Ask your AAA agent if they have any special offers coming up for booking...I know this year our local AAA was having "Disney" month in January 2008 - when I called in January to book a 2008 vacation that qualified me for two extra benefits...a $25 Disney gift card and a car dvd player. So it's worth it to ask if you should wait for an upcoming AAA promotion!

Hmmm... I see. So to get the AAA rate, it's best to book through AAA. There may even be a perk or two.

I looked up our dates and we might be able to save a little over $200. Worth it!

I sent a request to our AAA for a quote, and explained that we have a deposit down on a trip and may need to have it transferred over. Does AAA abide by Disneys payment cutoff of 45 days out? Or do you have to pay immediately?
I've never booked anything through AAA, so I know nothing at this point!

Thanks for your help, and keep the tips coming :)

Same rules with deposit requirements & same has to paid off by 45 days out.

I book through my AAA agent, but get my own ADR's (want to be able to make decisions on changes if you choices aren't available)

And if I were you, even after you book through AAA & get a discount, I'd keep watching the codes & rates board throughout 2009 because if it's as bad on bookings as if appears, Disney may end up offering free dining for at least part of your days. If you don't have a Disney Visa card, I'd get one of those too because of some offers are connected with the Visa. If a better deal comes along, your AAA agent should be able to re-book for you (or just get the new code applied to your existing AAA reservation.) For example, if a code for free dining came out, they'd apply that code. You'd lose the room rate discount but for most people free dining saves quite a bit more than a 20% room discount. Your agent should be able to price out the possibilities as they come up

I think you will have to sign off for your res to be transferred to AAA.
January usually is Disney Month at AAA. But seems like you have to travel earlier than you will be. But don't recall for certain as I have not booked through AAA. And if that was the case in past years, does not mean it will be the same this year too. Always worth asking AAA what benefit, if any, you get for booking during Disney Month (if you book with AAA in January).
Keep in mind by booking through AAA, any changes will need to go through them. They contact Disney.
All you would be able to do, if you chose to, is make your ADRs.

I called AAA this morning, we'd save about $150 to go through AAA. We decided to go to Pop instead of the Caribbean. Granted the Caribbean is great, even at the AAA price, with the Dining Plan, it's just a bit too much. So Pop we go :)

I asked for a bunch of Disney Gift Cards for Christmas, so I think what I'm going to do is, *if* I get them, apply them toward the trip, and then sign it over to AAA.

It's going to be weird not having full control over our trip, but AAA has been doing this a long time, so they know what they're doing. Right? lol

Disney Month is just a particular promotion AAA does...like January they're promoting Disney vacations so they offer extra bonuses for booking a Dis vacation during their "Disney Month", the next month they may promote Tours of Italy and offer something extra for booking then, then next month it's Alaskan cruises their promoting so will off a shipboard credit, and so on.

Oh cool, good to know :) I'm glad I waited then!

Thanks!!:yay:
