AAA discounts??

Hi! I got information in the mail today from AAA. We used to be members and have thought about signing back up. Anyone share what kind of discounts you have gotten by using them?

We are looking at 3 rooms at the Pop for a week (May 8-15) and would like to get the dining package etc. Are the discounts only for rooms? or packages? anyone know the rates...this is regular season time.

Yes all you have to do is tell them that you want to have your AAA discount applied to your ressie and then at the time of check-in you may have to show your card for final processing. I used it for PC and the rate I received was $84.00 a nite as opposed to $99.00 w/o it. The down side it can only be used for room rates only. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

AAA saved me $200 on my upcoming DW trip, 5nts/6days, 2ppl. GV at the Poly with Park Hopper tix. This is the second time I've used them for DW, and very pleased with the discount and service.

We have used the AAA membership for both tickets and rooms. We saved around $50.00 per night at the Boardwalk last November. We have two rooms at the CBR in May and saved between $15 - $20 per night, per room.

Goofy41, can you help me with some more AAA info? My parents want to join us this summer when we visit WDW and they have AAA. Can they book a room using the AAA rate (if available) and then call back later if a code becomes available, taking advantage of the lower nightly rate? I guess I was wondering if an AAA rate was somehow "binding?" Thanks!

I am not a AAA member and still get the discount ($200 on next trip). All you need to do is book your travel through a AAA travel agent.

I would definitely check on this - if you received a AAA discount, you will have to present your card at check-in. If you don't have one and they ask, they can charge you rack rate.

I've booked twice before for Disneyland using AAA discount and never had to show a card (Good thing! since I don't have one). I've never done this for WDW. I will verify with my travel agent. I specifically asked if I would save more if I joined and the answer was no. I will verify though. Thanks for the heads up!

"You have booked your package through me, and I have booked it with AAA Vacations/Walt Disney Travel - It is prepaid and they will not change any prices on you once you arrive. If I booked just a hotel room by itself and not through the package company then you would not be eligible for any AAA discounts, If I had done a room only and got a AAA discount for you and you showed up with no AAA card to present, then they would most likely then charge you the rack rate. "

I did book a package.

That's odd. According to the AAA info I have seen: AAA travel agency clients booking discounted AAA room-portion packages must be AAA/CAA members with a valid membership number when making a reservation and must present their AAA/CAA membership card upon check-in.

I'm not trying to be mean, but this kinda bothers me as a paid AAA member. By you receiving the discount through the AAA package, you are potentially keeping a AAA member from reserving a AAA discounted room since rooms are limited at those rates.

Oh well - just my opinion.

I also urge you to check on this. you have to be a member to recieve a AAA rate, it does not matter if your agent is AAA.

Booking w/ a AAA discount will generally save you 10-15% off of rack rate, but you are supposed to show your card upon check in. There are many advantages to having a AAA card!

I didn't have to show my AAA card at check-in, but my AAA TA asked for my membership number before booking. If you were to use the AAA number of someone not going on the trip, I would imagine you would run into trouble at check in, as the TA would book the res. in the members name.

I just booked POR for 7 nights with AAA discount, CM asked me for my #. I don't know if they ask everyone, or if it was for the time I'm going.

Last year, I had to give my AAA membership number to the CM who booked my one-night, room-only stay at PC for last October. I booked it under my husband's name, and he said he did have to show his AAA card when he checked us in (I'm trusting his memory on this since I was sitting in our van half asleep upon arrival.)

This year, I wanted to book the new MYW + dining package and had to do this through AAA Travel in order to get the AAA discount on the room portion of the package.

Just book and keep adding codes when available, right now we are on AAA hopefully a AP or general code will be released before we go.

Go to your local AAA office and tell them you would like to be an AAA member. I do believe you can also do it online too at AAA.com

I booked two rooms at CSR, park hoppers and the dining plan through AAA this week. I saved close to $400 compared to the price w/out AAA. I was asked for my AAA number when booking and my AAA TA told me to make sure I have my card with me in case they ask for it on check in.
