AAA discounts

I don't think the AAA card affords you any discounts any longer:confused3

It still gets onsite hotel discount of 10% and some other discounts as well. Hopefully someone will know about the others.

I thought they confirmed that the hotel discount was ending this year and won't be offered next year.

I believe Rainforest Cafe and Earl of Sandwich offer a AAA discount, as well as some places at GardenWalk. And Medieval Times and Pirates Dinner Adventure do. I think the Mimi's on Harbor may also. I know that some places that usually have a discount don't honor it at DTD, like Wetzel's.

I thought I remembered reading something too about the onsite hotels discontinuing the AAA discount. If they haven't, then, yes, it's probably still 10%. Lots of offsite hotels offer AAA discounts of course. Earl of Sandwich gives a 10% AAA discount. It used to be 15%, but I noticed it was down to 10% last time I visited. I believe you can still get a 20% discount on Disney in-park tours with a AAA card.

I went to Triple A last week in Burbank intending to buy my annual pass at a $15 savings over at the gate. This is what a few friendly clerks there told me. Triple A's ticketing system is different than at DL or the prepaid cards you can buy (and I did end up buying) at the supermarket. I was told until the voucher for the pass printed out there would be no way for them to positively tell me when my year would begin. I will be activating my prepaid card and trading it in for an actual pass on Saturday, December 6th. I definitely don't want my year to start before then and certainly not now, months ahead of time!

I wasn't aware of this wonderful board at the time but did find out through DL that every year the Candlelight Processional is always held the first full weekend of December (hopefully eventually it will be expanded). I checked and next year that weekend will be December 5th and 6th. The person I talked to assured me that my pass would still be valid on 12-6-15. I have family who has AP's for DW and told me the same. I am trying to save $ and know I would be covered for two years that way.

Because the Triple A clerks were fairly certain the day the pass is purchased=the day it is activated, I did not buy it there. I went ahead and bought a prepaid pass at a supermarket to save on waiting in ticketing line and also so I would get it and not change my mind due to cost.

All this said I do find it a little hard to believe that Triple A's pass vouchers do indeed activate day of purchase. Unless there is a AAA right by DL, I'm not sure I understand how that would make sense or cents unless the person purchasing was maybe going the next day or a few days later and didn't mind their year beginning beforehand. If anyone does know for sure how Triple A pass works I would very much appreciate info on that for 2016.

Thanks :)

ETA: I don't know if a Triple A card gets you discounts in the park but an annual pass does. The system just told me I need 10 posts in order to share a link. Type in Google DL Annual Pass Discounts to see discounts for park restaurants. I am not seeing any for stores.

We have bought our vouchers through our local AAA office for the past 3 years. The clerks were misinformed and gave you inaccurate information. The AP vouchers do not activate until the day of first use. When you take the voucher to the ticket booth (or to the entry gate -- and the CM there will tell you to visit a ticket booth sometime that day), you will trade in your paper voucher to receive a plastic AP. You will need to have a PhotoPass CM take your photo to upload into the computer system. Be aware that all vouchers for APs (whether bought at AAA or elsewhere) have an expiration date on them (usually printed at the bottom). Check your card voucher. Our AAA vouchers expire in January 2015, so we will have to activate them before then.
I have heard that AAA and Disney ended their partnership, so all AAA discounts either have already ended or will end at the end of this year. The AAA clerks aren't always the best informed, so I would double check this info just to be sure. There are no AAA restaurant discounts inside the parks that I know of. I've heard that the discount on the AP vouchers may end this year (the clerk wasn't sure). Multi-day DLR tickets bought through AAA come with free parking, so that is some savings.

I believe this is correct. I answered for today, not next year (I forgot all about that, lol) or the future. Thanks for the reminder.

The only discount you can get at Disney with AAA is free parking with your park hoppers you buy through AAA.
