It depends if your local club even offers it. And it does vary.
What you can do is look at the price chart (Post #18) in the Everything About WDW Tickets sticky in TPA&S (click on the link in my signature) And find out the price of the AP you want. Then determine what MYW ticket combination comes closest to that price but does not exceed the AP price.
Then go to one of the better resellers, such as Undercover Tourist or Maple Leaf to determine the best discount on the MYW ticket you need. (Note the chart is without tax, many of the discounters do include the 6.5% tax.)
Then follow the instructions in Post #7 of the sticky and upgrade the discounted ticket to the AP.
That is what we just did! I ordered 7 days non-expire hopper tickets from undercover tourist, picked them up in FL, went into MK (so I used them once) and on the way out stopped and upgraded them to annual passes. I saved at least $70.
Tickets increased yesterday, but you can still purchase at AAA South at the old price. AAA gives you a voucher to exchange at the park for your ticket. Does anyone know how long you can hold that voucher before exchanging it?
Last year I purchased my voucher from AAA in June just before the price increase but didnt exchange them until October, so I was able to hold on then for at least 4 months. What I really want to know is can I purchase my voucher for this year and next year and hold on t o the second set for 16 months?
I just returned from my local AAA office (AAA South in Florida). I was still able to get tickets at the old price, they indicated it takes several days for them to update the prices in their system, so the new prices wont o into effect for several days. I also inquired and read every bit of documentation on the voucher and the receipt, and it appears that there is no restriction to how long you can wait to redeem the voucher. So you CAN purchase your vouchers for the next ## years at yesterdays prices. And you CAN still purchase Child (3-9) vouchers as well.
Its a lot of money to dump today into tickets for the next several years of vacations, but how is it any different then buying into DVC? Pay today for future vacations (w/o the annual maintenance fees). Annual passes have increasing at about a rate of 5-7% per year thats more then Im making on any of my Money Market or CD accounts. So this is a worth while investment especially on the Child tickets.
I saved $262.35 on this years passes for our family by renewing at yesterdays rate. That would be over a $400 savings next year when I have to start purchasing at ticket for my soon to be 3 year old.
An unused AP voucher (or exchange certificate or will-call reservation) has no expiration and may be exchanged for a live AP at any time with no additional payment.
There are two howevers:
If purchased at a child price and the child is ten or older at the time of redemption only the amount actually paid for the voucher will be allowed toward the current price of an AP.
If the voucher is at a renewal price and more than a year has elapsed since the date of purchase, only the amount actually paid will be allowed toward the purchase at the current price.
