AAA Discounts at Universal

So, I heard that Universal offers discounts for AAA passholders. Some percentage off purchases, I think.
Is it 10%, and does that include all food purchases?

And, total ballpark, any idea how much a AAA membership costs in the mid-Atlantic region?

I am trying to decide if it is worth it to join AAA for the discounts, if it isn't obvious.:flower3:

TIA!

Most AAA discounts are 10% and include most restaurants and merchandise inside the parks. They do not apply to the food/drink stands...only the actual stores and restaurants. Most places in CityWalk accept them as well...just show the card to be safe.

i pay $40 for the chicagoland area for AAA membership.

it is worth it.

you can use it for online purchases thru the AAA website, car towing, gas help, etc, free maps in trip planning when you drive, hotel discounts, restaurant discounts all over the USA, and also at universal etc.

Thank you! I don't buy a lot of souvenirs, so I really wanted it for food purchases.

At $40 or so, it is probably worth it, even though I already have roadside assistance on my car insurance for $20 per year. We'll probably be doing some other traveling - to PA and to upstate NY, if I have my way - so there are probably other discounts for those areas as well.

I did a Google search and there is a AAA office a few blocks from my work, so I think I will stop by there next week and ask about a membership.

You guys are awesome!

I have premium AAA, which provides a larger free towing radius and some other benefits. We booked our Universal rooms this Dec. thru AAA and are saving about $240 for two rooms for six nights (not sure of the exact amount, but pretty sure it's about $20 per room per night versus booking directly with the resort). So even without any discounts anywhere else it has already paid for itself.

i have the basic AAA membership.
it works well for me.

i agree with what the above poster just said.

for what i paid and saved on my room the first year i used the AAA as a discount at universal, it was more than double what i paid for AAA.

same thought as the other poster.
the card, aaa, pays for itself by using it on the hotel discount.

sometimes i use my ap for the discount but usually the AAA beats all the other discounts for the time period i go to universal.
(with the exception of the super saver promos)

It's OT, but the first time you have a tire blow-out in a pouring rain and don't have to change it yourself, you'll think it was worth the money!! :)

It's also good for other hotels for other trips throughout the year.

amen.....................!

I don't have a car, and I'm going to get a AAA card to use for discounts. The membership here in MA costs about $52, and I'm saving $48 on my one night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel alone. With additional savings on souvenirs and food, it will pay for itself in that one trip.

As far as hotel and USF disounts go I don't think there is any difference if you have a regular or a premium AAA membership, so if all you are looking for is a discount go as cheap as possible. AAA benefits are a different story altogether, I have premium membership.

Or if one of your coworkers locks their keys in the car you'll be a hero.

Oh I agree, and that is why I have the roadside assistance add-on to my car insurance (but it's not AAA). My DH has used it more than once, and since our cars are both older models, I just feel safer with it.
