AAA discount vs. Dining Package?

Ok, so here's what I'm thinking.
Last week, I booked 4 nights at GF with 3 other adults. We added a 5 day park hopper and took the free dining plan as part of the package.
I discovered last night, that one of the other adults on the trip is a AAA member.
From the research I've done, I've come to learn that applying AAA to this package is probably not an option, but booking the parts of it separately might save us a decent amount of money.
We're not married to the idea of the dining plan, but it's a nice bonus. If we were willing to forefit the dining plan, do you think it would be worth it to cancel the package trip and rebook with the AAA discounts?

Absolutely, depending on where you plan to eat. If you're an "eat on the run" crowd, then you can make out much better w/the AAA discount.

If you have some time to go through the menus on the DIS and figure out your total cost, vs. 20% discount on your room and see what number is higher. You may even make out better with the discount and paying for the dining plan.

Plus, if you like the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin, AAA saves you 20% there as well! Kinda nice since guests of the S/D are excluded from any DDP. We have 2 types of trip booked fro Dec., we are hoping to use the FD trip we have booked but it does require us to arrive 2 days earlier than we planned ( WHAT a tragedy :lmao:) except it does interfere w.DS finals...however, our DD ( all 100 lbs of her) LOVES the dining plan, and since it's free :cool1: Our AAA plan is a bit higher, but that is becasue we are going over Christmas and lets face it, the rates are just not a "gift" at that time.
I agree, look at menus, we did FD once before and kind of resented working our vacation around our ADR's, but at the same time, we were grateful for being able to tr new places to eat. I KNOW the budget side of me would never have spent on the paces we did if not on FD. NOw we know what we are in for, and we know we will sacrafice park time ( not easy for us commandos to do) but DH prefers down time and the TS at least do provide that.

Is the AAA discount 20% for deluxes? We are looking at the weekend of Dec. 13th...but I can't seem to find AAA discounts for anything but Mods & Values. :confused3

According to my local AAA, it's 15% off deluxe during Value season, and that's from 11/29-12/17.
