What are the discounts AAA offers members for park tickets?

We are in need of a 6 day hopper + water park.

It varies by club. You'd have to check with your region to find out for sure. Typically, the more days on your ticket, the more significant the discount - although the discount isn't that great. Sites like Undercover Tourist are slightly better.

My AAA agent (Who I did not book with) said the discounted tickets were only if I made the 10% room only offer with them a package.

I booked the AAA rate straight through WDW in hopes of a better offer from WDW.

For the 9 adult and 1 3-9 6 day tix, the savings was a little over $300.

This must be the rule of your club. At my club in Western NY, anyone can come in and buy tickets. If you are a AAA member, you get the discount. If you are not a member, you get the same price as Disney. No booking requirement. I bet your club loses out on ticket sales, though - I used to work at AAA here, and we had a lot of people buying tickets that were staying with relatives or off property.
