AAA discount question

HI:

Does anyone know if you have a "room only" AAA rate, and decide to make it into a MYW package and include the dining option, do you "lose" the discount on the room rate? Or do they apply it to the package so you still get the room for the reduced rate?

No, you can't make a room only rate into a package. The only way to get the lower rate is to book the AAA package with the dining option. I did it this way and saved over $200 for my vacation.

You do get the benefit of the discount with the package. We had originally booked rooms only, and when we discovered the MYW dining plan, we ended up having to cancel our room only reservation, and rebook the entire package with AAA. However, we still got our room discount--you can tell by just adding up the components of the package.

You can not book a package through Disney with the AAA rate, but you can directly through AAA. The only thing you can do through Disney is the room only. Basically, the rooms are the only things discounted with the package when you go through AAA, so that price would be the same. If you did this through Disney you would have to call AAA and see if they can add it to the existing reservation. I would think they could, but if not, you may have to cancel the other ressie and then do the package. I would try to do this at a AAA office, though, since as soon as those rooms at the AAA rate open up, they are up for grabs. If there aren't others left at that rate and you cancel at home and then call AAA, someone else may call in and get the rooms before your agent checks.

Thanks guys. I think I will go to AAA and see if I can get the AAA package before I give up my room-only discount. If I lose my discount on the room, it negates any value from doing the dining program.
