How do you go about getting a AAA discount? Can we just type AAA into the discount space on the reservations page or do we have to contact the AAA agent? (of course, understanding that AAA discounts are not always available).

Call the resort directly. They will take your card number and give you a rate. I stayed at Portofino Bay (the Universal one, not the one in your country :goodvibes ) and paid $215 a night with AAA. The place is beautiful.

when i booked Triple A rate last year, they never asked for card number, just to have it at checkin.
At checkin ,they never asked to see the AAA card, also had another booking with Annual pass and they never asked to see it either.
But make sure you have it with you.

I've never even been to the one in my country:rolleyes: Kinda hard when you are livin life non-tourist style and have obligations 6 days a week.

Yeah, we will be trying out the Portofino this time around. Feel kinda silly to be going on vacation and being "home away from home" (although my part of Italy is filled with trash and smoke ;) ), but we were not satisfied with the HRH the last 2 times there. Portofino looks gorgeous. Can't wait.

Remember to use your AAA card at every restaurant and shop! You will save 10% and it all adds up! Don't miss the Tratatoria buffet Friday or Saturday...

yes...but it may not show (since Loews "revamped" their site)...but, you can call the hotel directly and ask for the AAA rate. IF they say it's not available yet, book it anyway, and when AAA rates come out, call and switch your rate to AAA

I would not call AAA agent....do it yourself like the others have mentioned

We will be staying on site.. How soon should I book for an August 2008 vacation? When do the AAA rates usually come out for the following year?

Book it NOW...if they let you ;) If they won't let you, ask them WHEN you can book it. Book at rack rate, change to AAA. AAA rates are expected out this month.

I called last night (which is about 3:30pm ET) and booked my room for late Aug 08. At that time, there were no AAA rates available. I will just keep calling back to check on AAA rates and then adjust my room.

I don't understand why they don't allow you to view discounted rates online. I know for a fact Military rates (which we no longer qualify for as retired)are available, but yet they don't show up online. It is a drag to pay for a toll free call when you live in another country.

You can book online with my local AAA and there is room availability in mid-July when we plan to go.

Is it really a AAA discounted rate or the same rate you could get by going directly through the online sites at loews.com or universalorlando.com? I'd really like to be able to check for the discounts online (& am a AAA member) instead of calling, but I can't find AAA discounts online at any website.

I'm logged in at AAA, and when I check Royal Pacific Resort for July 14-17, 2008, I get a Seasonal rate of $244 which is the same rate I get at loewshotels.com. What dates are you checking and what is the AAA rate you're seeing? I don't doubt you, but I'm just having trouble getting AAA rates online.

You're right -- that was the same rate I got. Last time I looked the AAA rate was $191 but that was off season -- like October. I wonder if they haven't loaded the rates yet for 2008?

aaa rates don't show up online....unless it's thru aaa website (it won't show up on loew's site)

AAA Rates will show up on the Loews online booking. At the bottom of the page that shows availability for your dates you will see 'new search'. Click on this, and another page comes up with an option to put in APH or AAA, I did this for my August booking this year, definitely works! :thumbsup2

It will show you the range of prices for AAA bookings but it will not allow you to book them. Once you click on select, the rates do not show up in the detailed listings. For APH, you are allowed to book online.

Okay, it is not working for me! It comes up saying that it is not available for my dates. What are you doing different?
