AAA discount; How much and what does it apply to?

I'm sure this topic is somewhere on this board but I wanted to know what is the AAA discount and is it applied to packages or just the rooms? Has it been worth it on your end? Thanks.

I have booked a Disney Vacation Package through AAA. The AAA discount only applies to the room rate. You may book through Disney using the AAA rate, but for room only. If you prefer a Package you then need to usa a AAA agent. My booking is for a 2 BR villa at Old Key West during 2/29/2012 thru 3/6/2012 for a party of 4 adults and 2 kids 4 & 6 with 6 day ph ticketa and 6 day dining plan. The Disney offer for this package was $8216.26. while the AAA cost for the package is $ 7009.78, a savings of $1206.78. My AAA agent will monitor Disney Discount Programs for a better deal, but till a better deal comes along I have this one. Remember there are only a limited number of rooms at each resort that qualify for the AAA discount, and some classes of rooms are not available at all.

when we went back in 2006, AAA saved us several hundred dollars. I just booked the Polynesian today with an AAA discount and only saved $18 a night. Last year when I checked AAA discounts, I priced a package at Coronado Springs and there was a savings of around $30 over the course of a week.
The previous poster got a great AAA discount but I haven't been able to find much savings with AAA lately.

If nothing else, you do get perks! Discount savings card for certain shops and stores. Upfront parking at the parks if you drive (might as well be handicap parking it's so close)! The character meal at the Swan offers a AAA discount.

I'm sure there are other perks with AAA, I just cant recall them now.

I know that when I booked a package with AAA they had the same rates Disney was offering directly except AAA charged me $10 for their service- so it cost more than just going through Disney.

Every AAA area office operates on its own, so sets it own rules for the parking pass & other perks. Some offices give it to you if you ask. Some only if you buy a package. Ours will give it to you if you buy a package or a ticket of 4 days or longer. And which office you book through is defined by your address.

I booked a studio villa with AAA for October and got 20% off. Not as good as I would have wanted, but not too bad.

We booked our trip through AAA in the beginning of the month for July 2012. We saved almost $400 and did a package deal, but I still think the discount is off the room rate which would be about 10% off. We're going during Disney's value one season, so I wasn't expected the 20% off. I figure $400 is better than nothing. If anything else comes out we'll have the agent change it. In 2006, our AAA agent ended up changing our reservation to a better deal and we were excited to hear about the extra discount.

I noticed on the AAA Oregon/Idaho site that AAA members now get preium seating for Wishes fireworks as of August 2011!!!

There used to be a way that you could find out what the discounts were for each level of resort during different times without calling AAA or Disney. I have not been able to find those anywhere yet this year for 2012. I am going to have to break down and just make the phone call I guess. I am just not quite ready to book yet, so I was looking to just find the information.

We have used the AAA room discount quite a few times. It is nice to be able to get this discount if there are no other current promotions or if you do not receive a pin.
