Now I know we don't have to get discounts, but you would think DVC would be the same as AAA!! I just booked the Richard Petty Driving Experience for my husband. This is the 8 lap thing and you drive yourself! I told them I had a DVC discount, and the lady said, I hope you have AAA because with AAA you get 20% off and with DVC you get only 10%. Her attitude was kind of like, you sucker! you get only 10% and people can pay 60 bucks a year and get 20%! She didnt say that but it was the feeling. Now I know not everyone has AAA, but does anyone know where the AAA discount is better than the DVC? Are AAA discounts published anywhere to compare to DVC?

My DH had called about the Petty experience. The CM didn't mention the AAA discount. I'm surprised that AAA would get a better discount.

AAA discounts are sometimes better than AP discounts on the regular hotel rooms.

Doesn't surprise me. AAA is all about cars. AAA also gets special parking at MK.

You should see my wife and I at Disney. "Excuse me what is the discount for Visa, DVC, AP, DDE?" "Which one?" "We are members of all of them."

I know that Disney's Visa card gave us a better discount for the Epcot Seas Aqua tour. Yes, it pays to ask if you can remember.

Sounds exactly like me! I've learned just to list them all and ask which has the better discount.

Thats us also! My husband goes nuts when I tell him, don't leave without a handfull of cards!!! His best line to me is "I will not use a card with Bambi on it!!!" I thought it was cute! guess I should have kept his plain!

While this diverts a bit. . .your husband will LOVE the RP Driving Ex. I surprised my DH with it for our 1st anniversary. He was CRAZY about it.
We purchased the ride along exp. for my son and will surprise him on our trip this summer.
Depending on when you are going, the earlier in the day the better (in summer). We just finished as the afternoon rains came in and they closed the track.

Enjoy!!

I don't have AAA for the Disney discounts - I have it just in case.

they will tow my car for a 100 miles and not charge me.:goodvibes

since my car is now 6 years old - I might be needing that in the future.;)

plus the plan I have will bring you gas for no charge. but I hope I am better at planning than that.

Same here. I've used them twice this year for a dead battery. But then I have a special van with all kinds of electronic gizmos. And it just HATES frigid temps.

I usually pull out all my cards and passes when I'm paying for something: AP, DDE, DVC, Disney VISA. Something has a discount somewhere. And where there's not a discount something gives much better rewards incentives. You shoulda seen us at our last DVC add-on: 5 cards and we were debating which had the best options at the moment.

AAA is good to have but I love my DVC membership.

They have nice (free) travel guides, maps, and custom Triptiks too.

Clarrabellecow, same here! My husband refuses to pull out his disney card with all the characters on it. The best part is it says MISS xxxxxx instead of Mr.
:rotfl: That reminds me I need to change it to the correct title in a nice, discreet red!

Thanks for the info. Being a AAA member can still pay off at WDW.:)

Jumping in on this topic. The last time my DH used his Dis Visa, the cashier told him she loves it when a man isn't afraid to show his sensitive side. LOL. He couldn't believe she said that. We have the Mickey, Donald, Pluto on it, but he told me I could switch it to Tinkerbell and he would still use it.

I'm glad we're not the only people who do that!:teeth:

We also ask which discount is best - AAA, AP, DVC etc... Its just too hard to keep track of who has what discount where!

I just book the Backstage Magic tour for April and asked what got me the best discount, DVC, AP or Disney Visa. It was Disney Visa at 20%. That's a chunck of change at $199/pp for 2 people.

To me, you get the Disney VISA for the discounts. You get AAA for small discounts on standard lodging and car emergencies. You get DVC 'cause you love the quality of accomodations.

We almost never charge anything on our Disney Visa unless it gets us the best discount. Too many brain cells to maximize the rewards, but the discounts alone make it worthwhile to us.
