There are several people selling the AAA Diamond Pass on ebay. I am wondering - do I need a AAA card to use it?

They state on them that they are nontransferable, but there is no name on the pass. It is possible that the attendant could ask to see your card, but not likely. It is not a free parking pass, just a pass for closer parking. The AAA spots can fill up quickly, and sometimes it is quicker to park in the regular lot and take the tram than it is to park in the AAA lot and walk. Not worth paying for, IMHO, especially since they are not supposed to be sold in the first place.

I think they are dated so not much help, PLUS it's not a free parking pass you still have to pay to park you just get to park in a different section.

Don't waste your money, you aren't parking that much closer and you are still charged the full amount to park daily.

I have one of those Diamond Parking Passes that AAA gave me at the time I purchased Disney tickets through them. As others have stated, you still have to pay for parking, this just enables you to park closer in proximity to the parks. We only used it once at Hollywood Studios. We got there early in the morning so there were spots available, and it was so close to the park- very convenient. I too saw them being sold on Ebay, and I wouldn't pay more than $1 or $2 for it. When we parked, we just showed the parking attendant who was directing the vehicles where to go, and he then pointed us to that preferred parking area. He didn't ask anything of us- DH was driving and just kind of flashed our parking pass at him and that was that.

Some are dated, some not.

I once booked a WDW vacation though AAA. The diamond pass was plain paper, black and white, with names and dates on it.

Other years, I purchased my park tickets at a local AAA office, and the pass they provided there is a color, undated and unnamed, glossy paper pass for the entire year.

I find the pass 'worth it' since it means I can walk and not have to fold up a stroller on the tram. At Epcot and AK, you don't have to ride the tram, and there's plenty of space (counting the overflow rows at AK). I've run into issues a couple times at the Studios where the Diamond row was full.

Here's a map, annotated with the parking areas.

Of course just because you got a pass doesn't' mean you can use it.

For example, every time there's a race at Disney the Epcot spaces are "gone" Same thing has happened at the Studios and Animal Kingdom but not as often.

I have seen Animal Kingdom spaces full and heard that the MK spaces will fill up quickly (I would never drive to the MK if I am staying on site and if I am staying off site I rarely go to the MK)

It's not a guaranteed upfront space. (And screaming at the attendant only makes you look like a jerk LOL!)

OP - no, you don't need to have or show a AAA card. Just hold up the pass as you approach the various parking attendants directing you along and they'll point you towards the AAA parking row.

We personally find it very convenient and use it every trip.

Did not have a problem using ours, although I think it was Studios that wasn't marked super well. But all were wide open in the morning hours (normally park at one park & leave it there for day). All reasonable walking distance.

I have used them a few times and just hold it up for the attendant to flag you to the AAA parking. If you get to the park early, you definitely do not need one. Plus the trams do not service the AAA parking spots.

I just got my AAA Diamond pass but it looks kinda flimsy. Am I supposed to surrender it to the parking guard (one-use only pass) or do I keep it for the duration of my stay and just show it each time I park?

Thanks,

Michael in Chicago

What is a AAA?

The American Automobile Association. Mainly, they provide roadside assistance (dead battery, flat tire, towing etc) but also provide other travel-related services. You can book entire vacation packages through them (often at a hefty discount) by being a member.

If you do book a Disney vacation through them, they send you a parking pass that allows you access to an area that is supposedly closer than the main parking area. That is the subject of this thread.

Hope that helps.

Ok thank you! I thought maybe it was a different AAA I wasn't aware you could book through Disney!
Thanks!!

Got mine on ebay for $1 and free shipping. Let's seehow it works
how in the world did you get one for a dollar? I have just lost 3 auctions in a row trying to get one. They all went for 9-11 bucks. I haven't purchased anything on eBay for a while and I feel like I am doing something wrong with my bids. I'm calling it a night and will try again tomorrow :(

We purchased our tickets through AAA last time we visited and used the Diamond Pass on our last day visit to MK before heading home. We did not have to pay for parking because we stayed on Disney Property while we were there. We just showed our Diamond Parking Pass and were directed to the parking area. We liked it. Of course, we got there pretty early, so there was not problem getting a spot.

We prefer to drive to the parks rather than use crowded Disney Transportation. I like the peacefulness of a car after a long day.

We also keep a cooler in the back and everyone is happy to grab a water or gatorade after a long day.

That said, we LOVE the AAA Parking Pass. My kids are all teens, so the walk is fine. We can avoid trams and get to our car quickly.

My kids said, Mom where did you get this awesome Pass? It is like Fast Pass for Parking!!! lol!!

When we returned home, they joked about missing the Parking Fast Pass when we went out!!

we actually had a parking attendant check the date on ours last week. and one day we arrived at AK at opening and were told they were not permitting diamond pass parking that day and had to turn around and park in regular parking
