AAA Diamond parking pass

ok mine are called for there are more out there I am sure keep asking on this thread!

I bought one on ebay last year for $25 and the resold it when we got back for $20.

I asked earlier but missed out on some of the offers. That's what I get for not staying on the boards 24/7 :rotfl:

If anyone has an extra AAA parking pass that I could use for our trip (we leave 12/3 and will be in the parks 12/4-12/9) I'd appreciate it! We are going on a special birthday trip for my 2 DD's. We will have a bulky stroller that we don't want to try to get on the tram (my oldest has foot problems and can't walk all day).

I'll be happy to send a postcard to anyone that can help me out! Plus, I can send the pass on to someone else when we are done with it. I'll even mail it out while we are still in Florida.

Hmmmmm....Aren't the AAA parking passes for people who actually belong to AAA? I'm all for a bargain, and for sharing lots of stuff, but isn't using a AAA parking pass when you don't belong to AAA a little like using a handicapped placard when the handicapped person is not in the car? Just asking.

For the record- I'm a AAA member, but was able to get the parking pass last time without buying anything. I just walked in and asked for it. I went back in later and got another one for my moms car. It doesn't hurt to ask. The parking was excellent- much closer than regular parking!

Thanks for the tip, ckoncurat! I am planning on booking one night through AAA for the 1st time, and also plan to ask for the pass!

Our AAA won't give them unless you book through them and I was able to do better on my own.

I have a few extra Diamond Passes for this year (they do expire @ the end of the year). If anyone is still looking for one, pm me and I'll send them out!

I'm also a AAA member. But, to get the pass you have to buy your tickets through AAA. I needed to buy a 10 day pass (5 days for this trip and 5 to save for a future trip  ). The most they sell is 7 days. We always bought our tickets from AAA in the past but this new MYW system changed things.

A sweet member of the group is sending me her pass when she is done with it. Thank you!!!

We are AAA members, but we didn't buy out tickets through them this year because they didn't have what we needed.

We live in Maryland-AAA midatlantic. They asked me if I wanted any tickets, and I said no, I already had them. Then they gave me the pass. I did this in person, not oline or over the phone- mayber that makes a difference.

it seems to vary by each individual AAA office. Some people have posted that when they went in person to buy tickets and asked about the AAA parking passes, they were told they could only get them if they were buying a package. Other people have just bought tickets and gotten the passes.

If by some chance there is another coupon floating around that I could use in February, I would truly appreciate it. We will have my mom in an ECV without a handicap card. Her batteries last year were half gone by the time we made it to the parks!
\
Some other things I thought of......

I assume the "batteries half gone" is a joke, but seriously, if her batteries are not lasting, she should have them checked out. The batteries or the charger may not be good. Depending on the size of the batteries and the driving conditions, the batteries should be good for anywhere from 4 to 12 miles (travel on flat ground takes less power than hilly, a Pooh sized person will use power faster than a Tinkerbell sized one).

Also, if you don't get a handicapped parking perrmit for her, you can still park close. Tell each CM you come to in the parking lot that you have someone using an ECV but you don't have a handicapped parking permit. They will find you a spot closer to the front of the lot or direct you to the handicapped parking area (Medical Parking). Just don't park in the spots labeled with a sign, a wheelchair, or blue paint unless you have a permit.

You know, I was kind of being silly, kind of not. It seemed that the batteries always took a big dive, but she is petite, and they lasted through any schedule we ran. We rented from an outside agency, and I always figured it had to do with batteries that were "well used."

I've decided not to fret it. We will ask to drop her off, if necessary. I worry far too much!!!!

Edited to add:  I swear if all of my brain cells functioned at once, I'd be dangerous. I have forgotten until just now, that we are staying on property this visit, and will probably be on Disney transportation. We have always stayed off-property before!

I understand what you are saying but I don't think its the same. I received the parking pass as a gift when I booked my trip through my local AAA office. I didn't even use it as we used the Disney transportation. Since it was a gift to me I do not feel its wrong to give it to someone who can actually use it. Also no where on it does it say it can only be used by me.

A AAA parking pass is not a gift, it is a perk of AAA membership. The fact that people are selling them on eBay boggles my mind, but I guess people sell everything there. I definitely see the point of the AAA members whose local agency won't give them the pass b/c they didn't buy tickets there--as members, I think they're entitled. But using a pass to park in a AAA lot when you are not a member of AAA doesn't seem right. Just my .02.

I agree!

I guess my thought on the subject is that I have been told that there are a limited number of spaces available in the AAA lot; it wouldn't be fair if someone who actually bought their tickets through AAA was not able to use it because people who didn't get the pass through the proper channels had already filled the lot.

Wellll,,, technically, one's illegal while the other is 'merely' unethical :)

Yes, each AAA office or region is different. I bet I could go into the office closest to my home and simply ask for the pass and be handed it - I've built a rapport with some of the staff there. That's not generally the most convenient office for me, though. That one, I'm sure I'd have problems.

Now, in this case all someone would have to do is purchase the 7 day passes from their local AAA office at the AAA discounted price, then upgrade to the 10 day pass when arriving at Disney for only the difference between the regular 7 day price and the regular 10 day price.
