AAA Cruise Perks

We booked with AAA and got a $150 stateroom credit in addition to the credit we got for using our Disney Visa.:goodvibes

Call your AAA and see if they are having a "Disney Week". I know AAA Mid Atlantic's Disney Week starts May 12th and there's additional on board credit for booking that week.

Use Costco Travel instead and get a SIGNIFICANT gift card to be used (at Costco-duh) after the cruise. For the med cruise the gc will be over $600!!

We transferred our onboard re-booking reservation to AAA. We got $150 stateroom credits from AAA in addition to our 10% discount and $250 onboard credits from DCL. So, it does pay to re-book while onboard! :cool1: - Jennifer

Booked a 7 day, cat 11 room thru AAA this week. They said we will get a $75 OBC.

When we sailed in March we had a previous reservation for March of 08 thru AAAfor two cabins, one for my famliy and one for my parents. When we found out what we could get as a discount and OBC we made another reservation for March of 08 (still two cabins), and when we got home we transfered our new reservation to AAA and cancelled the original reservation. The agent seemed a bit annoyed with us for doing this. (long story as to why I didn't switch agents immeadiatly at that point - believe me if I was the only party involved in this travel I would have).

I was unaware that I would get both the AAA OBC, and the DCL OBC. Is this true? If so it is great news!

At one point I thought that the TA might have been annoyed with us because he was losing a commision by reeboking onboard instead of staying with the original reservation. Then I thought perhaps he was just annoyed because he had additional paperwork. Finally I thought perhaps he is just a jerk with poor customer service skills. Does anyone out there know if this move may have cost him a commision?

Thanks!

Jennifer

 I think it was the third, they were just being a jerk! Personally, I don't know if they lose or get a smaller commission when you book elsewhere and transfer it to them. Someone else on here might know the answer to that question. Our poor AAA TA has had to change our cruise dates and stateroom category a few times without any complaints. She has been great! :flower3: Yes, you get both DCL onboard credits AND AAA onboard credits plus the 10% discount. If they didn't mention it, ask them about it!!!!! If you get the same "attitude", I would ask to speak with the Manager or change to a different Agent, AAA or elsewhere. Most TAs, even the sponsor of this site (Dreams Unlimited) will give both credits after re-booking onboard and then transferring to a TA once on land. We found out we could do that on the DISboards. :disrocks: This site is full of such great information, that is not always publicly known. Bon Voyage! :goodvibes - Jennifer

We belong to Costco too and grabbed one of the brochures at the front regarding DCL. We thought about transferring our onboard reservation to them, but we couldn't get a hold of a "real" person or someone to call us back. So, we just gave up on the whole thing and went with AAA. How was your experience? - Jennifer

I'd love to know this as well. I read about people transferring reservations a lot and I always wonder what it does to the agent that originally booked the trip. Unless it is a super deal I would feel bad talking someones commission back from them.

If a better deal came my way I would contact my TA first and see if she can match it.

Any TA's out there???

I had a easy experience transfering our ressie to Costco. I called them several times before actually moving the ressie. They were very helpful in answering all of my questions. I called DCL to verify the answers and all was well so we decided to go ahead and transfer.

Every time I called I was able to talk to a real LIVE person in a very short period of time. With one exception - I tried to get ahold of them late (after 9pm) one Sunday night - and after going through the phone tree, finally got the message that they are not open then and try again in the morning (DW didn't think that they would be open, I thought "why not give it a try").

One thing about Costco Travel is that they do not want to accept periodic payments - they want you to pay your cruise off at once (we transfered our ressie to costco - didn't initiate the ressie with them so I don't know how that process workes out). Final payment day for us is comming soon and we will make the payment to costco several days in advance and then check our credit card online to make sure that the payment makes it to Disney (don't want a problem after 18 months of waiting and planning).

We did go with AAA. I saved about 20 bucks and will recieve and additional 150 in ship board credit. Since we booked on board last time, we got the 10% discount and the 200 credit. Add it up, $350 for me!!!!

TA's get the same commission whether they originally booked it or if you transfer it to them.

Is AAA offering an OBC for 2008 cruises yet? We booked onboard in Feb. for Thanksgiving 08 but don't want to transfer until they have an OBC offer. Last time I checked it was only for 2007 sailings.
They gave us a $150 OBC for our Feb. cruise, cat. 9 :woohoo:
