AAA card

If you are a member of the AA then you can use your card to gain all of the AAA (American Automobile Association) benefits when in Orlando. These benefits include discounts at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resorts. You can also claim 10% off of all food/drink/souvenir purchases at Universal Orlando.

Hi

I am a member of AA breakdown - so if I take my yellow AA card with me to the US I can get discounts at WDW and Universal?

That would be great

Are the Universal discounts available to all AA members or just those staying at a Universal resort hotel?

At Universal, yes. At WDW AAA discounts are not available within the parks - only on resort accommodations. :)

All AA members.

Just wanted to add- we saw a discount booklet at Belz for AAA members- we asked the lady there if we could have it as we had our AA card with us- she looked at us as if we were mad and said she'd never heard of the AA! We didn't get the discounts....

That's awful. You are entitled to the AAA discounts as an AA member. We found that all of the staff at Universal Orlando were happy to provide the 10% discount to us upon seeing our AA card with the ARC Europe logo on the back.

I wouldn't say "awful" but a little unfortunate maybe.

Staff in WDW and Universal will have had a number of UK visitors use their AA cards as it is reasonably well known and quite common. The chances are this woman in Belz had never been presented with a UK AA card before.

My latest AA card received in April doesn't have a three digit number on the reverse. Credit cards have the three digit number that is requested for most transactions these days and I suspect the hotel is confused.

I thought that as long as it had the ARC Europe emblem (the blue, white and red flag) in the bottom right corner of the reverse that confirmed the card can be used in the USA in the same way as their AAA cards.

If not, I would be keen to hear what's changed.

I'd be interested in replies to this too. All hotels on the Hilton group's site now require this (it changed a few of years ago). Marriott and Intercontinental sites just ask you to indicate membership and show your card on arrival. I remember reading somewhere (long time ago and don't remember details) that someone got an extra discount from Hilton by ringing them and claiming AAA, but I've never tried this, even though we use Hampton Inns (Hilton) quite a lot when we're travelling around.
