AAA and You First Upgrades

I posted this question in the middle of another thread and was hoping someone could help me out. I already booked my room at PBH for July 2009. I got a You First upgrade to a Portofino Suite. I heard today that the AAA rates were out for 2009, so I called to get my rate changed. The woman in reservations said there was no AAA rate available for my booking right now. Is it possible that I won't be able to use AAA if I obtained a room upgrade? I find it odd that everyone else is able to obtain the discount. Should I keep calling back?

I would call back maybe she was not aware the rates where out, or could not be bothered checking

Perhaps AAA rates aren't available for your specific dates.

I didn't realize you could get an upgrade before you check in? I'm a blue member, but will be kicked into the "basic" group Jan 1st. I've booked a stay for 16 May 09. Does this mean I can get a room upgrade before they downgrade me?

at the blue level, you have to wait until you check in to see if any upgrades are available.

I'm a Gold member and when I booked I was upgraded to a premium room. When I arrive, do I need to check to see if suites are available or what is the procedure? I realize it will cost an extra $50 per night if it is, I just wasn't sure if there was a proper way to go about asking.

Just tell them you're Gold at check-in and ask them if a suite upgrade is available when you check in.

Thanks! We leave next Friday after our high school football game and we are so ready! My DD will be turning 17 and she is taking some friends to go to HHN. We have to wait until after the game though since she plays bass drum and has to perform :]
