I recently had a CM tell me that you cannot get the AAA room discount rate and purchase the dining plan. From reading many of the posts regarding AAA this does not seem factual. Can someone please clear me up on this? Thanks

I was told that you can get dining with a AAA Package thru a AAA agent. You can book a room only straight thru disney with a AAA discount. But to get the dining, which is only available as a package (or to DVC members, I think) you should go thru a AAA agent. If you decide to go this way, ask around for the best AAA agent... I wasn't impressed with mine.

Hope this helps and is accurate.

We got the DDP with our package when we booked through AAA. We also got the room discount. I'm not sure what that CM was talking about.

as it was said above you can book the AAA discount and a dining plan but Disney will only book a room-only reservation with a AAA discount. You have to go through a AAA agent to get the room discount and a dining package.

I have never done this, but I know I have read many other post from those who have that will tell you you can make your reservation with AAA and still get the DDP, but that you will not get the discount on the room. I would suggest calling your AAA TA and asking them directly since they are they only ones who can do this for you!

you still get the room discount with a package. if there is another promotion like free dining, etc., you cannot combine the discounts. when stuff like free dining or large discounts come out, it's better to go through a disney specialist, because (as said above) the AAA agents aren't that great.

My AAA agent worked well with us, but i probably knew just as much as she did. I booked through AAA and got DDP, but i am not sure if it would work with free dining. When calling AAA make sure to have an idea what is going on before you put your destiny in someone elses hands.

My trip is booked with the AAA discount and dining. It is not the free dining, so be sure that you are differentiating between the two. We have the MYW with dining package and the room portion of the trip is still discounted.

Here are some things to remember:

1. You can get a AAA Room only discount through Disney or through AAA.

2. You can get a MYW package (room & tickets) with the AAA discount (essentially the room is still the only thing discounted) through AAA only.

3. Dining is only available as part of a package, which means that you can only book a plan with dining and the AAA discount through AAA.

4. Free dining is an entirely different animal and if you want to book for the free dining, you can do it through AAA, but you will lose the AAA discount. You can not combine a discount with the free dining.

If you need the name of a good AAA TA, please feel free to PM me.

I also went through aaa to book my trip and we got the dining plan she offered it to us and we did not even know what it was at first and also got the discount for the rooms. first time going to disney world. But to answer your question yes. AAA is so easy to deal with. :) Good Luck

I am sorry...I just realized what I had wrote above...MY BAD!

I too was trying to say you could book the regular DDP w/ AAA and get the room discount, but not with the FREE DDP and the room discount both. You will have the option of chosing between the two though. The word "FREE" changes everything.

See I knew what I was trying to say...Now if I can just type as fast as my mouth runs I will be alright! ;)

When we booked our Feb '07 trip with AAA last August we did get the available room discount and later free upgrades of the room (from standard to woodsview) and our park tickets (water parks incld.). We did not get free DDP, but it was not available. She also revealed to us that Disney and AAA have a close relationship, so AAA is privvy to discounts and offers from Disney. In the past AAA have given free DDP to their customers as a "gift". (I believe it was in Jan '06, I could be wrong.) She also told us that AAA tries their best to give their cardmembers something "extra" for two reasons.
1.They want their members to see "the AAA difference" of using AAA travel. AAA books enough Disney vacations to warrant extra perks from Disney.
2.Satisfaction. (This is actually the first reason, but I'm writing this as I am thinking so it's all coming out mixed.) They want their cardmembers to see AAA travel as ONE of the many services available to their a AAA members. Travel is not a trivial part of their business and neither is Disney.
Like everything else in this world, sometimes the right person makes all the difference for a good service (or product) great. You just have to find them. Our agent has been with AAA for many years and was a travel agent before that. Ask your prospective agent any of the questions that are posted on the Trip Planning Board. He or she should have an answer for you, if not move on. Remember that card is good for all AAAs, not just your nearest one.LOL

My sister was trying to book a trip with the dining plan (not free) and was told she could NOT do it unless she booked as a package. She was hoping she could just book the room (AAA discounted) and the dining plan without having to get park tickets too but that was NOT the case :(

Our AAA package has DDP. We just couldn't get free dining. However, we weren't planning on going during free dining.

The Dining Plan is only available with a package whether it's AAA or not. You have to book the Magic Your Way package in order to add the dining. You can't add it to any room only reservation. I think the only exception to that is for DVC members.

To get AAA discount on room and DP your sister would have to purchase at least one
day base ticket for each person in her party. This is considered a package.
This is what we did for our trip on 8/21.
