A YOU Worth Fighting For | January 2016 Weight Loss & Better Living Challenge

I rage ran to my best 5k time tonight, and my fastest mile. Rage not from the day but more or less I was mad at how slow my last mile was. I managed to cut off 1:06 from my average pace after the first mile. Still a bigger elevation gain to. I guess I haven't been pushing myself enough...

Actually looking now it was my fastest run outside and the coldest.

I ate horrible today though because I'm PMSing like crazy. Give me chocolate and salt. This run was 100% brought to you by sugar, GU, and caffeine.

It was so slow today. I spent half my day looking up dvc and packagw prices for dark side in April and the other half dancing/singing. And a tiny bit of time making money haha.

haha! I was doing something similar today. Trying to plot out when to book the bounce backs for Princess and Dark Side in 2017. Hoping to do the challenges only - no 5K. Too early to race for a plastic medal :)

Were you/are you a fan of his? Do you have a favorite David Bowie song, movie, or quote?

Not a huge fan but certainly there are songs I like - I would say my favourite is Changes but also love Dancing in the Street with Mick Jagger.

Also - loved the quote you used for today.

Didn't sleep much last night since our booking window opened up for our cruise :) .

Can you tell me what time frame opened? We are interested in Panama canal 2017 and I haven't been watching for announcement, ty!

My internet was down alllllll day yesterday, and today I have to work. It snowed here a couple inches and the gal I work fill in days for, drives a goodly drive and bails a lot when it snows. It's ok I haven't clocked in for several weeks! I need to keep frequent or I get stressed. I have my gym bag packed to walk next door to the fitness center after work.

I love laughing cow cheese in celery! Will have to try with deli slice!

:welcome: new joiners! Glad you are here!

I braved up this morning and did it! I stepped on the dreaded scale. Got that hurdle over with. I lost 4 lbs! Weighing in at 150.7. 30.7 lbs to go. I didn't give a Jan goal, but it was 5 lbs. Hoping to reach that by next week. I have a manicure reward to claim!

Eta: Loss was 4.1 lbs. That .1 is important! Lol

I was thinking of 2017 racrs too my new random want for a take two on w&d might sideline my pink c2c next year. 2018 is dopey. It sucks because the pink c2c and Kessel Run are all at the start of the year I want to spread them out :( maybe avengers next year. Just get an army of c2c medals.

I'm in my car while its heating up. I may be rambling haha.

So, I am ready to start the weight loss year! I am back from a great time at Disneyland Paris, Paris and a German theme park called Europa Park. We had a fantastic time, walked on average more than 20.000 steps a day, ate a ton of great food. And yes, I gained... With Christmas and vacation I am sad to report that I am up 4 pounds from my lowest pre-Christmas weight. But I also am down nearly 10 pounds from my 2015 start of the year weight. So, now on to a new year that hopefully will lead me to an even lower 2017 start of the year weight!!

My goal for the month is only 3 pounds considering that there is only 2/3 of the month left. Will report my first weigh in on the coming weekend.

I guess I haven't been pushing myself enough...

I made that discovery some time ago: I can run faster, but I need to push myself. Once I started that I was amazed at how much faster I could get! It was this great quote that @lisah0711 once posted that got me to realise this:

The new itineraries have not been released yet. I think it was @5xdisneyfans personal booking window for excursions and online check-in that opened, as that opens in the middle of the night. The new cruise itinerary booking usually starts in the mornings. I am hanging out on the cruise board quite a bit and will try to remember to alert you when new itineraries are going to be released! The Panama Canal is fantastic, we did it in 2014 and absolutely loved the cruise! Nothing better than two weeks on the ship!

I think this is the part of Mulan that I relate to most in my work-outs, haha. It's not until I actually start exercising that I realize just how much I need to exercise, because I am obviously and woefully out of shape. Is anyone else like this?

Are there any particular exercises or work-outs that give you trouble? What do you do when you encounter ones that do? Do you have substitute exercises that you replace them with? Do you/will you make it a goal to keep trying them in order make those exercises easier? Curious to hear your tips and tricks!

Are all the 5K medals plastic? I have only done the princess 10k. I would love to do a challenge in the near future but it makes me nervous when I think about it. Maybe when I lose weight it won't be as scary to think about. I just can't imagine how my joints would feel with all that running close together with no rest days.

Hey friends.....I have literally just a minute to pop on for now. Proctoring tests gives me computer access, but no down time! I arrived nearly an hour before my first test session today to find that no one else had been responsible for setting up the lab (Chromebooks, mice, headphones) and that alone took me nearly every minute! I have a short lunch break today as well, so don't expect to hear from me today (plus it is a WW night). Sorry! I'll pop on long enough to answer the QOTD if I can!................P

QOTD--

I used to be a runner and it was both a chore and a rush.

I've suffered from plantar fasciitis a couple of times over the years and last month it decided to flare up for the first time in a few years. So frustrating. My main goal right now is to balance exercise with getting my feet and calves stronger and better so I can start running again. So right now I'm walking. It's boring. At least an hour at a slow-ish pace but I want to get 2-3 miles in daily with a day or so of 5 miles. Tedious!!! I'm looking at this being my exercise for at least the month of Jan, and possibly Feb too. I hate it. But it's working, so I can't complain.

I teach computer lab K-3.....I feel your pain!! Logging into a whole classroom of computers takes a few minutes:) Good luck with the testing. Our testing starts next week and runs through the middle of February.....in my computer lab.....every day....ugh!!!

PMS gets me too. The day prior I just want to eat everything. Great job on the run.

The work out I would love to do is one I can't. I would love to be able to run. When I was about 13 I messed up my knee in P.E. I ended up wearing a cast then brace for over 6 months. It never healed properly. My knees slip out of place if I step wrong. So no running for me. I literally dream about being able to run. Even if I was super thin I still couldn't run. So no getting to realize that dream. So I just walk. Another problem area is abs LOL I hate sit ups, plus I have heard they aren't that great. The best core work out is doing a plank according to latest research. Those are hard LOL I can only last 15 seconds. Only way to get better is to keep trying. Maybe get up to 16 seconds :D

I hate push ups. I hate them so much. I think part of it is leftover embarrassment from school days when all these kids could do push up after push up and I could do 1 and then just sit there and watch all the people around me keep going. I try to do them now but I still can't. So I just don't do it. I do other exercises to try and build up those muscle groups.

I also wasn't a huge fan of running for the longest time. Again, I think that school really ruined me on running because I was the fat kid that all the skinny kids watched after they finished their miles in 7 minutes and I was still chugging and sweating and panting. Since then I've basically been convinced that I'll never be a runner. Then I found Disney races and decided that if there was one thing that could make me love running, it would be Disney!! So I have a goal to run in Disney races. And the bling, regardless of it's Disney bling, is just too addicting. So now I'm a runner! I love the sense of accomplishment in running long distances, signing up for races, and losing weight.

The 5K medals are plastic and the 10K, Half, Marathon, and challenge medals are all traditional medals. Do not let the quality of medal detract from your accomplishment - all 5K racers are amazing and it's so great that they're finishing a race! :)

I just found out that my 7 year old niece will be running the Princess 5K with us next year - so it looks like I'll be up early to earn my plastic medal. She's really excited to run her first race - she can already do 2K no problem. She's faster than me!

Hi everyone! I fell off the healthy wagon a bit the last few days. My twin boys had their triennial meeting, which is basically a 3 hour meeting about their special education programming. It takes a month or so of evaluations to prepare for this. Last week one of the teachers called and told me some upsetting news and since then I haven't slept and ate my way through a few bags of food, lol.

One of my boys is struggling to meet his goals. They are both autistic, but they have very different kinds of autism. It was hard to hear some of the results - he did soo poorly he didnt even have a score on many of the items. It's not fair, because there is so much more to him than that stupid evaluation. At least during the meeting the teachers talked abut his progress. He used to not have eye contact, nor could he hold a pencil. This year he is greeting people with eye contact and writing some letters and numbers independantly!

My other son did great - so well that he was released from PT and OT and he doesn't even have to do a full day summer program anymore. (I'm actually nervous about this - he still has many behaviors and needs support).

Anyway, I think writing out my feelings will help me let go of some of the feelings that are "making" me eat.
XOXOX

I haven't encountered this yet - but as soon as I do I will let you know. I signed up for personal training sessions at my gym. They start January 26th.. so hang tight. I mostly just stick to cardio.
