I enjoy the characters-meals or parks. My boys are 17 and 19 so they will still do quick pics with characters to make me happy but when they were small, it was the best. We did the SCiFi breakfast for SWW 2 yrs ago and even my teens had a good time with that one.
Characters were everywhere 10-15 yrs ago. I have pics of one DS where Mickey came up and started walking with him in the middle of MK, them being in the parades, long hugs and playing with them around the parks...They were all over. I think my fav character meal was at Chef Mickey, again when they were much younger. We were near the back, not to crowded , not the crowds like now, and Chip and Dale were literally rolling on the floor playing with the boys and their toys, the others took them around restaurant...great memory.
We were very lucky to be able to see and do so many character things back then.
I also was a big fan of camp Minnie/Mickey at AK. Loved the Christmas time pics.
I've only done character dining at The Garden Grill and Chef Mickey's. So fun. I was in my teens and it was still fun to me. I don't think my dd(12 years old) would be too enthused with it but you never know.
HALF MARATHON: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
I didn't cross the starting line until nearly 40 minutes after the first corral crossed - so that caused a lot of waiting/standing and rising temperatures that earlier corrals didn't experience. Mile 9 had a huge hill that nearly wiped me out for the remainder of the race - but overall a great course and a lot of fun! As this was my first HM... It's a personal record!
This experience taught me a lot about perseverance, endurance, and patience. Also the pic with my brother before the race... I need to educate my husband on how to take photos. he's not so good, therefore we look terrible
Side note: Yes, my shirt says "In Training for the Tinker Bell 10K". Appropriate for today's run, eh? Skip the 10K and go right for the Half!
Woohoo on a half marathon. I guess you are my neighbor in AZ.
Just a quick check-in (unfortunately without any idea of where I am weight wise as my scale is broken). The new job is burying me alive. I knew it would be a challenge but two weeks in and I'm staring to think, "what was I thinking???" For now, nothing to do but put my head back down and plow along.
Health and fitness wise, I'm also trying to plug along. It's been so icy cold that even the dog doesn't want to go outside so my steps have sadly dipped below 10,000. My eating has been OK - still too many meals out and too many snacks but I'm doing a better job of making the other meals really count. One good side effect of too few hours in the day is that I've really started to rely on just a handful of quick, healthy meals. Fish or chicken + salad and broccoli or asparagus is boarding but it tastes good and it is one less thing I have to think about. Goal for the week is to get a new scale so I can see whether I am on track. I'd like to fit in a WW meeting but that just isn't going to happen.
I hope everyone is well and warm and happy! My phone is telling me that it is currently 12 degrees and blustery, with a windchill of -3. Time to play rock, paper, scissors with DH over who has to leave the warmth of the down comforter to walk the dog. At least the days are getting longer and then sun will be up in a mere 2 hours.
It's tough to keep your schedule with changes. It will balance out soon, I'm sure.
Good morning, friends!! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and that we are all surviving the cold! We didn't get above freezing here yesterday, and our first "winter weather advisory" is set for tonight, so the "I" word is being thrown around a LOT. Ugh. How many days until spring?
QOTD for Tuesday, January 19, 2016
We are now officially more than 50% of the way through the month, so let's have a little mid-month reflection.
How are you doing on your goals? I don't just mean what is your progress percentage so far. Are you struggling, and if so, what is derailing you? Are you finding that you set your goal too low? Too high? Are your methods of achieving your goal working out like you expected, or are you discovering that you aren't seeing the results like you thought you should? Are you feeling good about your progress/goal?
We rarely go below freezing so we are good. But I keep reading all these below zero temps reminds me of living in Rock Island Illinois.
Ok I had saved lots of your quotes to comment on but it doesn't want to load!!!
Sooo I'll just post instead.
Halfway reflection about my progress is that my energy levels have really played a big part in my lack of progress - also being school holidays I thought would have my younger 2 harassing me to play but turns out that were perfectly happy with mum having a 'nanna nap' in the middle of the day while that all continued gaming! lol
But I did do lots of activity today - I almost don't want to tell you all because of all the comments about how cold it is where you are. Also, it is already Wednesday the 20th here so I'll give you my 'Woo Hoo Wednesday' as its kind of tied in together - today is my Birthday

- we live about a 10 minute drive from the beach and there is a great area just down from the entrance to the river from the ocean that we love to go to with calm water. It is almost the end of summer holidays here for the kids so today we hired a stand up paddle board for 2 hours and had our first ever go at this - I did really good - I only fell of once and that is when my daughter and I were trying to work out how to have her laying down balanced on the front while I stood and paddled lol. I bet I'm going to be sore tomorrow

So after we returned the board we stayed on as it was just too beautiful but I didn't get any photos as my phone was almost out of charge

next time we go I will take a pic so you can see how fantastic it is. Anyway we relaxed and played in the water with a Frisbee. All up we were at the beach for about 4 and a half hours.
I must say though that there is way too much of me to squeeze into my swimsuit for my liking - so that just means I need to try harder with my goals.
Well done to those who are doing well and for those who are struggling at bit - I totally understand.
Fun beach time sounds amazing. I'd like to try one of those.
Is it too late to join? I actually just started getting serious about weight loss and my goals 10 days ago. I'm tracking through MFP (@Calimomx2) and so far so good. When I stepped on the scale on Monday I was down 6.5 lbs! This is probably the first time ever that I'm doing this by eating real food and tracking. I've made many attempts in the past using different programs or fad/extreme diets and nothing worked. My birthday is actually in just a few days and this is the last year I want to be facing another birthday weighing way more than I need or want to be! I'm not looking for a quick fix, I'm looking for a life change that sticks and lasts forever!
Happy Birthday
@4Mickeys!

I just got serious again late in December tracking on MFP down a bit since the first too. So far just Wii Just Dance game for cardio and a little exercise bike and some lifting with milk jugs because I'm too poor to invest in heavier weights. I have some 3 lbers I used with 30 Day Shred and Walk Away the pounds dvds but I was wanting to work at heavier lifting. I've been at it for so long. I had success on Weight Watchers. Did MFP before with success but ended up stopping the tracking and exercise. Right now I'm tracking what I eat but not getting to big on times I go over because I'm working at the exercise and resistance training into habits. Then I can adjust bigger steps on nutrition when that is more consistent. So far its working and I'm losing. I'd say 80% or better of the days were on target with calories though.
Hello everyone! I am late to the party but I have been reading on these WISH forums for a while and I finally decided to try and change my life. I hope you don't mind another visitor?
A bit about me. I am 28 years old. My boyfriend broke up with me last month and I don't have the most supportive family. I have wanted to lose weight for a long time but I told myself if my boyfriend loved me the way I was why bother. Clearly he didn't and I look back and see I was just convincing myself of that to avoid doing the work.
I know it's January and this will seem like a "resolution" but I am hoping it's not. I want to change my life. The problem is I have no idea where to start. There are so many things out there looking to take your money and claim to be the solution. I want to find one that works and I enjoy, then I will stick with it. I am open to any suggestions. I't kinda sad I have to turn to a forum for support but you all seem to really care so I figured it was worth a shot.
P.S.- I have considered running but with roughly 80 lbs to lose I don't think that is an option. At this point a 10K is my goal but as you can see from my screen name it feels like a million miles at this point.
Sorry about the boyfriend breaking up with you been there in 2009 and have stayed single since. I've been with MyFitnessPal a while and it does really work FREE of charge when I stay on track. This time I'm doing 2 days of lifting milk jugs and doing squats, mostly eccentrically so it really really works you out and you have to take a couple/few days to recover. Dancing and exercise bike are my cardio work. I have videos and there is a million of free ones on YouTube. Fitness Blender channel has some good ones. I thought about similar things when starting up. The timing was lined up with "resolution" time but I didn't make any at all this year. I had decided on the weight loss before and started tracking food and logging in on MFP and reading success stories really helps me stay motivated at times.
I've noticed minor weight gains this week through MFP and I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong. In the last three weeks I'm up a pound. Still within my goal of maintenance but going "up" is a trend I don't want to see.
What can I do to stop the trend? I'm thinking the exercise calories are not accurate... anyone have some advice on this? I'm a bit bummed today.
Yes a lot of times its hard to get completely accurate measure on what was burned with exercise.

It also lowers as you lose weight. argh I know for me I take them as over estimates.
Hi, friends! So, I feel like I need to apologize for my lack of dedicated host-ship over the past week or so. My plan to get back on a normal schedule has backfired dramatically - now instead of getting to bed around 2a and sleeping until 11a or 12p, it's more like getting to bed around 4a and sleeping 'til 2p or 3p. That coupled with my extreme inability to cope with the cold has really wreaked havoc on my energy levels as of late, and I feel like you have all gotten the short end of the stick as a result! I'm so sorry. As it's already late in the day for most of our participants, and I think there are some solid chatter-worthy posts in the thread recently, I am not going to post a typical QOTD today, but I DEFINITELY will tomorrow, and it and the rest of the months Q's will be back on point. So, in the interim...
I chose the plan because I feel it is what works for me. Exercising both cardio and resistance. I do try to keep to plans where I can eat everyday foods because its nice to know we can work it in and still lose or maintain. But I do love healthy foods too..veggies, fruit are so easy. I'm not a fan of meat and chicken has gotten sooooo old to me that I just keep it to a couple times a week. Eating beef a bit more(for iron purposes and more protein) now and I do try to keep to whole foods and like to learn recipes to make from scratch. My plan has some phases I'll go through and I think the steps will help me be more successful long term and that is the goal because I know I can lose weight its just making it a habit I can maintain for life not just to lose.
Happy weigh day, friends! To those in the North/North East, I hope you are all safe and warm. Keep us updated on your weather conditions!

I just love the look on her face. "You want me to eat what?"
Let's talk NSV's today! There is SO much more to this journey than just the number on the scale. What non-scale victories have you noticed? Do you crave water? Are there foods that you once loved that you now can't stomach? Do your clothes fit a little more loosely, or do you find you have increased energy levels?
My biggest NSV this month so far is one pair of jeans are feeling a bit looser. My other pair that fits has been big and baggy since I bought them second hand and didn't try on. Plus hard to find my size at thrift stores. So it was closest I could get and I needed pants and they had the right 50% off tag so I figured why not.

The other ones I bought new in Florida and they were baggy then, I could put on and off without unbuttoning them. lol I know I didn't lose much so its interesting but they are definitely a bit looser than they were.
Week 3 Results
Goal: 0%
I did some deep thinking over the last couple nights about what I want and my end result, so I think I'm going to lose another 10-15 pounds. I've been at ~150 for the last month and I realize that I'm still not yet where I want to be. Friends on this thread know that about two months ago I was waffling if 150 or 140 was my end goal and after I took
@DisPup75 's advice of 'wearing it a little' to see how I felt, I decided that it wasn't my final goal.
So I'm setting myself up to reach about 135-137 (ish)...which puts me at the normal BMI for my height. I think those extra 10ish pounds will also just make clothing look a little better and help with the running times.
My goal for the end of this month is to lose 2 pounds by the end of the month, back to where I was at the beginning of the month.
I know I'm aiming for a pretty large range of ideal goal weight. Because the last time I was in the healthy range weight for my height was early Junior High maybe 6th grade. I'm not really sure what my goal is and won't know until I get down. I know when I was in high school I carried weight more like men muscularly or something and carried my 200-215 lbs quite well. I think its perfectly normal to get to a point and see how you feel. If you know there is room for a bit more you're on the right path.
Self-confidence, motivation to be more active, and a new pant size are pretty good NSV.
Foods I can't stomach? All of those fast food places. I cannot even fathom how I ate so much McDonalds. Yuck!
HEHE I know I had McDonalds today took my "nephew"(bff's son) to get some lunch after I picked him up and was thinking how not so good the sandwich tasted. But fries ahhh drool.
NSV.........I too am making better choices, even when I don't want too! I'm tracking every single day on MFP and I think the biggest revelation for me is that I'm finally seeing that I CAN do this, I can make better choices and I don't need a quick easy fix to lose the weight. I feel good that I am setting myself up to get this weight off and keep it off because I am in charge and control of what I do every single day!
Yes seeing you can do and envisioning goal body, healthy lifestyle are good things I'm working at doing so I can keep the mental part going.
I wish I could relate to this! Smelling McD's fries is like a shark with blood in the water for me. Also, good luck on your new goal! I'm sure you'll rock it!
Yeah those fries are addictive. Its the only thing there I really like anymore at all.

Me swimming away from blood.
While so many of you were freezing we had 75 forcast. It was nice out. I hope we stay in the lower 70s a while longer. I am not looking forward to the summer at all. I need to get full time work so we can maybe make some summer plans in the northern areas or California. I'd still like to go see some snow before it all melts. Just haven't had a good amount of hours to make it up to take my daughter to see snow. She didn't see real snow until 9 or so and then this past May she saw it falling for the first time in Wyoming and Colorado on return trip from South Dakota. Guess what I'm saying is I'd love to split the difference get some snow and have us all in a normal freezing temp that isn't below zero. HEHE
