A Year Late, But Worth The Wait!!

Emma - I am subbing and coming back to read when I can see your pictures (on a restricted computer right now).

My son is graduating from HS next week and I so wish he had wanted a graduation trip to the world. Nah - he rather go to the beach with his HS friends. Go figure. :confused3

Looking forward to reading about your adventures!

We strolled around the resort, taking LOTS of pictures, and then we went back () into the GCH to wait for our laundry instead of going back to the room. I took pictures of the amazing scenery, and we relaxed in the lobby.

Step Dad watching us from the balcony

Hint for dinner: That’s where we’ll be tonight!!!

Step dad had joined us by then, and we were all sitting in the lobby of the GCH looking out the window when all of a sudden, it started POURING! And I mean pouring HARD!! Uh, oh! Thunder and lightning- the whole shebang!

I love thunder, don’t get me wrong, but our dinner for that night was partially outside, and I did not want to miss it!!!! Luckily it didn’t last long and we were able to finish our laundry, and get back to the Hawaii building where we dumped our clothes in the room and went down to the CL to grab a bite to eat since the dinner didn’t start till 8.

We lounged around and got ready for dinner. We donned our Hawaiian attire and made our way to Luau Cove where we waited (and waited, and waited, and waited) to be seated for… The Spirit of Aloha Luau!!! They took our picture in the queue:

Welcome! Glad you're in! :goodvibes

Yeah, my mom was REALLY pushing for a WDW graduation trip, but luckily I had no objections! A beach does sound lovely though!!!

Man, that rain was coming down hard! So glad it cleared up for y'all to be able to go to the luau. :thumbsup2 That sounds like quite the fiasco y'all had to get the laundry done. :rotfl2: I thought I was going to have do laundry while we were at WL, before heading to our cruise. But, thankfully, I was able to pack to where I didn't have to do that. I was not looking forward to it.

I know, it was a very intense storm! It only lasted for 20 minutes though! :rotfl: It was so funny because we were trying to do it as fast as possible because we knew the rain was coming and we didn't want to be stuck in it!! Glad you didn't have to do laundry! It's always a pain on vacation! :thumbsup2

What lovely shots of Poly! I can't wait to see it for myself!

The laundry drama would have given me a headache but sounds like you managed to capture some of the resort whilst waiting.

I hope you managed to get seated for dinner soon and look forward to reading about your experience.

Nothing like a Florida thunderstorm! Glad to hear it didn't hinder your luau plans... can't wait to hear more about that!

I am really enjoying your TR and all the pictures! You really have some great ones with some interesting views. I can't believe how uncrowded your first Epcot day was. Amazing! And then the next day the MK looks crazy!

Anyway - how wonderful to have a two week trip! Looks like you and your mom (and step dad) are having a wonderful time.

I promise to catch up soon.

Oh - and the Dolphin looks like a pretty cool place to stay. I think I'm going to have to try it! Awesome view from your room.

Emma's mom here - it was a wonderful time with my amazing daughter!!! Love you, Em!!!!!

Thank you! It really is a beautiful place! My shots don't give it justice of how nice it actually is!!

It was actually quite funny because it was such a hastle! I did take the opportunity to snap some pics, it made things less stressful!

Thank you! We do, and it was amazing! Great seats, great food, and a great show!!! :cool1:

Yeah they really do hit hard! The luau was great despite the storm just hours before!

Thank you! The crowds were so weird when we were there! Like you said Epcot was empty, but MK was packed!! Sometimes the crowd density varied throughout the day. It was unpredictable! haha

Thanks! Yeah I'm really appreciative that we can go for that long, and that we can have a great time together! :goodvibes

The Dolphin is a great place to stay! It's so beautiful and the location is great!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading!! :goodvibes

We were finally seated…….CENTER FRONT ROW!!! Woooo!!! :woohoo: Anything better??

Nope! Didn’t think so!!

We were served with our appetizer: (the bread is my FAVORITE!!)

And took pictures of each other until the entrée came!

The band started to play too!

Our entrée was served, and this was yummy as well!!

Great seats for the luau! And the food....yummy! I just ate lunch but those pictures are making me hungry!

The Poly looks so beautiful! It must have been really nice to stay at an Epcot resort first and then switch over to the Poly. The Luau looks like it was a lot of fun. I'm glad it didn't get rained out.:thumbsup2

I have to agree - great seats and mmm that food is making me hungry! :rotfl:

Me too!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

It was really nice! The locations of both resorts are great! And the resorts are so beautiful!! The Luau was great! I'm so glad it didn't either! We were worried!

Oh, does that food look delicious! I may have just licked my laptop screen... :rolleyes1

:lmao: I actually just laughed out loud!!!! :rotfl2:

Yay! The show started!! It’s such a good show with a really cute story line! The dancers and singers are great, and I really enjoyed this show. This was our second time seeing it, and I think we agreed that it was better than the first. AND it only rained once! (Just a bit). :cool1:

Then, right before the different islanders dancing, our dessert was served. I didn’t really like it, but I think my parents did!

We really enjoyed the show and would recommend it to anyone of any age! There’s a section where they take audience members and teach them how to dance, and it’s very interactive! The show itself was also well done and fun to watch! It kept us entertained, and smiling! The food was also delicious, as I had mentioned previously, the bread was my favorite part!! We’re not big food critics, so all I know how to say was it was bad, ok, good, or delicious; this meal was DELICIOUS!!!

After the show, we headed back to the room and crashed for the night!

Wow, the luau looks and sounds like it was blast!

I'm hoping on my family's next trip we can splurge and stay in a Deluxe... I was thinking WL or AKL, but now the Poly is becoming a serious contender!

Great pics of the show! It looks very entertaining and hope to be able to see it one day :thumbsup2

I agree with you in that the dessert doesn't look that appealing after all the delicious food from earlier but am glad your parents liked it.

The Spirit of Aloha dinner show gets a bad rap, for some reason! I don't know why, like Emma said, we've seen it 2x and both times we thought it was great! I second Emma's recommendation to see it if you can - especially if you can get right up close like that; it was amazing!!!
